4.12. Work with periodicals
Today there are a huge number of printed matter, and it is very important for a child reader to be able to navigate the flow of information. The task of the librarian is to try to acquaint the reader with the largest possible number of periodicals addressed to children, to teach how to use them, and to pay attention to the best publications. It is very important that from childhood a child treats periodicals with interest. Periodicals provide children with extensive information on various branches of knowledge, assist in the study school curriculum expand their knowledge of the world around them.

Various forms and methods of working with periodicals, both traditional and innovative, help to teach young readers to use the reference apparatus of the publication, to find material on a topic of interest. Libraries that receive periodicals actively use them in their work. Children's libraries of the region successfully use such forms of work with periodicals as educational games, magazine presentations, reviews of the content of magazines, library lessons, etc.

One of the characteristic features of the formation of the fund of children's libraries was the expansion of the range of periodicals. Often, with the help of periodicals, references are made, mass events are held, articles from periodicals are painted in various databases and file cabinets.

Conducting a sociological study on the reading of children, librarians will certainly find out the issue of reading periodicals. As can be seen from the analysis of forms, questionnaires, and oral surveys, young readers are willing to turn to newspaper and magazine products.

But not only within the walls of the library is acquaintance with magazines and newspapers. In the children's library. VK Petonov, Osinsky district, librarians actively cooperate with the social rehabilitation center, conduct reviews of interesting children's magazines; the librarian of the Lakha rural library brings magazines to the homes of disabled children.

Employees of the Children's Hospital of the Ziminsky City CBS continued to work with children with disabilities under the "Complicity in Fate" project. Throughout the year, Periodicals at Home provided basic library services to those who, due to health reasons, were unable to visit the library in person. The librarians Lugovsky, Mamsko-Chuysky district, cooperate with a rehabilitation center for minors, introduce children to magazines, and read interesting articles.

In order to form the information and reading culture of children in the libraries of the region, library lessons are held to promote periodicals: “Through the pages of newspapers and magazines”, “No matter how many books you read, there is no newer than a magazine » (library No. 21 of the Central Library Library of Irkutsk); "News of the magazine world", "Why magazines" (library No. 37, children's department); "Journey through periodicals" (DB Slyudyansky district); "Journey to the Country of Journalism", "Journal Kaleidoscope" (TsDB), What does the postman bring? (libraries of the village of Uk, Atagay, Kostino); "Planet Periodica", "Magazine carousel" (Alzamay, Nizhneudinsky district); “Jokes, there were, fables: all magazine pages” (Tyretskaya rural library); "Journey to the Country of Journalism" (Semenovskaya Rural Library of the Central Library Library of the Zalarinsky District).

Due to the lack of new periodicals, the Bolshezaimskaya rural library held a library lesson “Following the pages of magazines of past years”.

On the Day of the Russian Press in the Verkhne-Martynovskaya Library of the Kazachinsko-Lensky District, the event “Empire of Journals” was held at a good organizational level, at which the children got acquainted with the magazines “Klepa”, “Domovenok”, “Murzilka”, “Sibiryachok” and other publications. In the Katanga CLS for children from a correctional school, library lessons are held with game elements "Journal Kaleidoscope".

It is interesting to review the children's magazines "Filya", "Fidget", "Funny Lessons", "Misha", "Toshka and Company", "Tom and Jerry" in the children's library of the Slyudyansky district. In the Central House of Children Usolye-Sibirskoe review "Journal kaleidoscope » helps children navigate the variety of magazines received by the library. “Journal nooks and crannies” – this was the title of the review of the magazines “Young Pathfinder”, “Erudite”, “Miracles and Adventures”, “Svirel”, “I'm 15”, “Juliet”, “Marusya” in the Central Library Service of the Nizhneudinsky District. After the review, 32 copies were issued. magazines. In the Cheremkhovo CLS, librarians successfully conduct surveys, conversations, quizzes, the answers to which the children found in magazines. This form of work arouses children's interest in learning, helps to expand their horizons.

In library No. 4 of the Ziminsky city central library, the event “A wonderful magazine somehow fell into my hands” was creatively held, in the children's library - “Learn and be surprised”.

The purpose of the day of periodicals "Discovering the riches of the journal kingdom", held in the Central Library of Nizhneudinsk, was to acquaint readers with the range of journals subscribed by the library, to cultivate a culture of reading periodicals. The program of the day was made up of a conversation game « For children to know more, there are newspapers and magazines. (Grade 3), game-journey "Around the country of the Journal" (Grade 5), library lesson "Coffee table" (7th grade). The story about the best children's magazines was prepared in a theatrical form. The postman Pechkin introduced the children to periodicals.

"The world of interesting magazines, it's yours!" - this was the name of the day of periodicals for children in grades 5-8, which was held in the children's department of the Rodnik library. The purpose of the event was to form in children an idea of journals, their structure, periodicity of publication, circulation, etc. In order to develop the need for fifth-graders to read periodicals systematically and prepare them for their perception, the Central House of Children’s Library held a library lesson “Journal Carousel” . The purpose of the library lesson "Through the Pages of Newspapers and Magazines" is to acquaint 8th grade students with a variety of periodicals, to teach how to use materials from periodicals in the educational process.

Library No. 3 of the Ziminsky City Central Library Library held a day of periodicals "Periodicals - your friend, will help pass your leisure time!", Library No. 2 - an hour of periodicals "Heroes of Newspaper Pages".

How to attract children to the library? Librarians successfully solve this issue with the help of magazines and newspapers, organizing various public events. To attract fifth-graders to reading magazines in the Central Children's House of Nizhneudinsk, they were offered to make a "Journey to the Country of Journalism." As decoration organized a book exhibition of children's magazines "The whole magazine dance" with sections "We are taught at any time of the year by wise nature", "Anything for the soul", "Read and smile".

I would also like to point out travel game "Visiting the Pencil", dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the magazine "Veselye Kartinki" (Central Children's House, Usolye-Sibirskoye).

An important role in the work with periodicals is assigned to exhibition activities. In the libraries of the city of Irkutsk, the exhibitions “What did the postman bring us?”, “Magazine Rainbow” (library No. 22) were arranged. The children's department of the Sputnik library organized for its readers an exhibition-recommendation "What did the postman bring us?", in the Bolshezaimskaya rural library, exhibitions-views "40 minutes with new magazines" (CLS of the Nizhneudinsky district) were arranged. In the Bazhir village library, the children got acquainted with new arrivals at the exhibition “What did the postman bring us?”, and in the Tyret village library of the Zalarinsky district, the exhibitions “There is such a country - a Journal”, “Read about interesting things on the planet in a magazine and newspaper” were held.

In the Central Children's House of Shelekhov, an advertising exhibition "Young Scholar - a magazine for the curious", an electronic exhibition-presentation and a quiz on the magazine "Tales" Sibiryachka", an information exhibition "Journal Empire" were organized during the year. The subscriptions to the Cheremkhovo Central Children's Library constantly update the exhibitions "Magazine Carousel", "No matter how many books you have read, there is no newer than the magazine."

During the school summer holidays in the Central Library Service of Irkutsk, the action "Summer - it's time to read!" was held, within which reviews of the periodicals "The Sun on the » . More than 130 young readers took part in the action.

During the summer holidays at the camp day stay and in the dispensary "Istoki" surveys were conducted "On a visit to Sibiryachka" (Nizhneudinsky district). As part of the Library under the Sun project, Svirsk librarians have created favorable conditions for reading and viewing books and magazines in the fresh air.

In the Pokosinsky rural library of the Bratsk district, during the summer holidays, competitions and exhibitions were organized for children based on the materials of the magazine “Miracles and Adventures for Children”. The program of events turned out to be interesting and rich. In issue 10 of the magazine for 2011, an article about this event was published.

2011 was an anniversary year for the magazine "Sibiryachok". In the children's library No. 6 of the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, a literary journey through the pages of the Sibiryachok magazine was carried out. The hosts told the guys that in 1992 the only one in all of Siberia began to be published and Far East children's magazine- "Sibiryachok", offering its readers fairy tales, stories, funny riddles, comics and unexpected surprises. An interesting and informative literary and musical festival "Together with the "Sibiryachok" we will enter the world of nature" was held in the Children's House of Slyudyansky District . The Children's Book Week at the Central Children's Library in Nizhneudinsk was devoted to the Sibiryachok magazine. A quiz game aroused great interest among readers in Zalarinskaya DB « Do you know the magazine "Sibiryachok"? A big literary festival dedicated to the anniversary of the magazine took place in the Central House of Children's House of Kazachinsko-Lensky district. The design of the art room of the Family Reading Library of the Nizhneilimsk District was dedicated to the “Sibiryachka”, a competition of snow sculptures dedicated to the favorite magazine was also held there. In the libraries of Bratsk, Svirsk, Sayansk, in the DB im. VK Petonov, Osinsky district, creative meetings of young readers with the editorial board of the magazine "Sibiryachok" were held. During the year, a series of presentations of the magazine “Siberian” for Siberians”, “My friend Sibiryachok”, “Happy birthday, Sibiryachok!” took place.

Libraries of Irkutsk on the site "Journal Anniversaries" presented virtual exhibitions to the anniversaries of the magazines "Bonfire", "Murzilka", "Sibiryachok". The Central Children's House has developed a window advertising campaign "Reading Magazines". In the Central House of Children's Hospital of Nizhneudinsk, on a permanent stand in the foyer, advertising lists "It's interesting" about the most interesting articles from periodicals.

Librarians are realizing that without studying excellence colleagues, without improving their professional level through the study of such periodicals as "Library", "Bibliopole", "Library newspaper", "School library", "Library business", etc., it is impossible to fully provide library and information services. Unfortunately, not all libraries have the opportunity to subscribe to the press, so information and analytical reviews of periodicals are regularly held at regional seminars (Slyudyansky, Irkutsk, Chunsky districts, Cheremkhovo, Nizhneudinsk).

In conditions of financial restrictions on acquisition, the availability of periodicals in the collections is of particular importance. In this regard, the experience of children's libraries in Sayansk is interesting, which the magazine "Rodina" and "Irkutsk Land" singled out as "Monuments of the regional level", subject to long-term storage.

Working with periodicals is very important, as children's periodicals arouse children's interest in knowledge, helping to broaden their horizons. An analysis of the work of children's libraries in the region with periodicals revealed the creative approach of librarians to their activities, the constant search for the most effective forms and methods of work, which is a prerequisite for actively attracting children and adolescents to libraries and expanding their readership. It is also important that librarians do not remain aloof from readers' interests, constantly study the motives for turning to periodicals and correct their activities in a timely manner.

Here are the shelves, books, bindings ...
My old acquaintances
Subject of attention and care
And growing love.
And cover after cover,
Where next to prose is verse,
Like turn after turn
On the map of the fate of the world.
Like a conversation of millennia
Bygone generations call ...
You and I are just kids
Before this wisdom of the ages.

In continuation, read the material in the women's online magazine about the flower of female happiness

Hello, dear, dear, faithful friends of our library! You are indeed our faithful friends, you are not afraid of cold, heat, snow, wind or rain. In any weather, you boldly step into the library. She is always waiting for you and meets you joyfully, with warmth and cordiality of employees, new arrivals of literature, interesting public events.

Today the library must choose its most faithful friend. It will be the one who knows more about the library itself, about periodicals, in general, the one who answers more questions and receives more tokens during our entire meeting.

So let's start our conversation. In the Armizonsky district, the CLS was created. Who knows what it is?
(Answer: Centralized Library System)
And who will say in what year this significant event took place?
(Answer: In 1977)

The CLS unites 12 libraries: 11 rural and one central district library with a children's department. I think you will be interested to know some of the results of 2011. Of course, the year was difficult, but fruitful. All indicators of our work (with the exception of paid services) is higher than in 2010. Even the number of readers is 10 more, despite the fact that many reading families leave the area and, in addition, the death rate is high in the area. We have 5.5 thousand readers. The book fund is more than 97 thousand copies and more than 750 copies of periodicals. Last year, more than 235,000 books, newspapers and magazines were issued to readers. For comparison - in 2010 - only 207 thousand. That is, each reader took 42 copies of literature in a year, or 3 editions per month. This is a good indicator.

Last year, the departments functioning in the library changed a little, new employees came to us. Here's what it looks like in this moment: there are 4 departments in the library. Adult Readers Service Department (G. A. Ugryumova, O. N. Grudeva, A. S. Pecherina); children's department(V. A. Lukashchuk, N. F. Pecherina); procurement department (G. P. Gorbunova, V. V. Markov); information and legal department (N. O. Zhiryakova, E. V. Maul).
Probably, you will be interested to know that our system has its own website armbibl.ucoz.ru on the Internet. On it we place our work plans, information about the events held, photos and other useful information.
The library has a shared Internet access point, which you can use free of charge during the library's opening hours.

The libraries of our system (including the regional one) are expanding their functions and the range of services provided, both paid and free. Information about library services can be found in Reader's Corner.
The main direction of the library's work is to provide the population with information services through existing library documents, including through periodicals.
The flow of information, constantly received and consumed by all of us, has become not only important for a civilized person, but also vital.

Let's remember what is included in this diverse world called the media?
(Answers)
Yes, this is the press - periodicals of the newspaper and magazine type and audiovisual media - radio and television.

Today we will talk about the first component and to me, as a librarian, which seems to be the most important - the periodical press.
It is very difficult, almost impossible, to imagine all these periodicals. because contemporary press There are thousands of publications on various topics, intended purpose, program, periodicity, circulation, distribution region.

What two divisions can we divide the entire press into?
(Answer: Newspapers and magazines)
Correctly. What is the difference between a newspaper and a magazine?
The newspaper has greater efficiency, greater versatility, it is more informative and is a sheet edition.
The magazine is more analytical (i.e. analyzes events) and publicistic. Magazines, according to the State Standard, must be bound, i.e. printed sheets are bound in the spine.

Let's take a mental excursion into the history of the press...

The newspaper is the history of the world in one day. It is difficult to come up with a better definition for this type of periodical.
The very word "newspaper" is traditionally associated with the name of the Italian coin - gazzeta.
In the middle of the 16th century, it served as payment for leaflets that informed Venetian merchants of trade news. The history of newspaper business dates back to 1609, when newspapers were published once a week in Germany.
The first Russian newspaper, Chimes, appeared in 1621. True, it was handwritten, and only the tsar and the boyars read it.
The magazine is almost half a century younger than the newspaper. It was in 1665 in Paris when the first issue of the edition came out. A lot of time has passed since then.
According to the distribution region, the press can be divided into three large groups: national, regional, local.
The press can be designed either for the majority of potential readers, or for a specific group.
According to the thematic direction, the press can be divided into the following topics: health, sports, technology, science.
Newspapers and magazines have different periodicity. Strict periodicity is one of the most important characteristics of the media. Some publications come out every day, others once a week, some once a month.
The front page contains the most important materials, sensational photographs. What draws your attention? Well, of course, the title. Its main task is to hold our attention, to intrigue. Sometimes the title is followed by a short italicized text that precedes the material. This is the cut. Usually it is a slogan, quote or comment, sometimes summary material that determines whether the reader will read this material.
After all, when reading periodicals, we choose only what is interesting to us, so the headline and the cut try to interest us. Under the heading "Today in the issue" are the most important topics of the issue. Sometimes newspapers and magazines have sheets that are called tabs. An insert is a publication within a publication, it can be removed from the newspaper without violating the integrity of the publication (TV program).
Solid text on a wide newspaper or magazine page would be inconvenient to read. Therefore, in publishing practice, it is customary to break it into several columns - vertical columns.
Each publication prints output data containing information about the publisher, editor-in-chief, publication frequency, circulation, etc. Each newspaper and each magazine has its own permanent headings - sections. The rubric has its place and design
Now we invite you to get acquainted with the periodicals presented on the shelves.

So, our library subscribes to 94 periodicals. Of these, 37 newspapers and 57 magazines.
All of you are our regular readers and you know what magazines and newspapers we subscribe to. Of course, this list is not permanent. Adjustments are made according to your interests.

For example, once we subscribed to the magazine "Caravan of stories". He was in demand among middle-aged women. Then suddenly ceased to be in demand. But when there were no new issues of the magazine, suddenly there was a demand for it. And since this half of the year on our shelves - your old friend magazine "Caravan of stories".

Pay attention to the new magazines: "Dasha", "All for a Woman", "Hunting and Fishing: XXI Century".

1. The newspaper should imagine the permanent arrangement of materials, domestic and international.

2. Viewing a newspaper should begin with an editorial. Its place is on the left or at the top of the first page. The cutting edge is the pulse of today. It will tell you about the priorities and problems of the country, science, technology, cultural life. The title of an editorial always clearly indicates its topic.

3. Next - a general review of the newspaper. Its technology is similar to viewing a book, only rubrics and headings serve as a table of contents-guide. Comparing the title of an article with the heading under which it is placed, it is almost always possible to say the topic of an essay, feuilleton, reportage, information. A subheading will help clarify this topic.

4. Are you interested? - read.

5. What you read should certainly work - help in professional activity or just in conversation.

6. There is not a single issue of the magazine that does not tell about something necessary, interesting. You need to be able to see these materials, read them. Regular reading of newspapers and magazines will allow you to be knowledgeable people who can always tell about what is happening in the world, in our country.

7. How to accustom yourself to reading periodicals? At first, force yourself to read at least all the headlines on all the pages of the newspaper. Surely one or two of them will grab your attention. Read the articles under these headings. There are already one or two topics with which you are familiar. If you can continue to force yourself to follow them, then you will not only get acquainted with the opinions of others on the issue that interests you, but you will be able to form your own.

8. There is one thing - the only, indispensable condition for the development of interest in a newspaper, magazine. This is a sequence, a regularity of reading.

Quiz questions:

1. What is PERIODICALS?
2. What is a newspaper?
3. How is a magazine different from a newspaper?
4. How is a magazine different from a book?
5. Name the regional periodicals.
6. What is the name of our regional newspaper? When does it come out to readers?
7. Tell us about your favorite magazine or newspaper.
8. What departments are there in our library?
9. How many libraries are there in the CLS?
10. What is the book stock of all libraries in the system?
11. How many readers do we have?
12. Well, how many copies of literature were issued in 2010?

Thanks everyone for the replies. And the most faithful friend who knows almost everything about the library turned out to be _______________________!

Well. Now you can go to the shelves, select the newspapers and magazines you are interested in, write them down in your form, come home, sit in your favorite chair, turn on the table lamp and enjoy reading!

AND THE LIBRARY, BECOMING YOUR FRIEND FOREVER, WILL LOOK FORWARD TO YOU!
