iris folding- a very interesting technique that appeared in Holland, it translates as "rainbow folding". At first glance, this technique seems complicated, but in fact it is accessible to both adults and children. Drawing in this technique is created using paper strips of a certain width, which are superimposed on each other in a certain order and at a certain angle, creating an interesting effect of a twisting spiral.

Materials and tools:

A sheet of colored cardboard;
- a sheet of colored paper of the same color;
- candy wrappers;
- scissors;
- scotch;
- heart pattern:
- glue;
- figured hole puncher.

Progress:

Choose your favorite heart template.

We transfer the drawing using carbon paper to the wrong side of the cardboard sheet.
Carefully cut it out along the contour - these will be windows in which the image of hearts will be placed.

We put the cardboard with the front side on the template so that the diagram is visible in the windows on the wrong side. Using adhesive tape, we attach the drawing to the cardboard so that the image does not move.

We cut candy wrappers into strips of the desired width and fold them in half lengthwise. The width of the folded candy wrapper strip should slightly exceed the width of the glued strip on the template.

Now the cut strips of candy wrappers, starting from the first number, are glued onto the base with adhesive tape, placing the fold to the template line. Cut off the excess parts of the strips.

We repeat the steps, moving clockwise, each subsequent strip partially covers the previous one.

We alternate multi-colored stripes in the intended sequence until the entire space of the picture is filled. Each time the stripes will become shorter and shorter. At the end, you can use small scraps cut off at the beginning.

When there is a small empty square left, we also glue it with a piece of candy wrapper.

In the same way we paste over the second heart, only now we are moving counterclockwise.

We separate the work from the template and an amazing pattern opens up before us!

The frame is missing. Instead, you can make small flowers along the edge with a figured hole punch,

which we also glue on the reverse side with small pieces of candy wrappers folded in half.

Alternate them by color.

The wrong side of the product, in order to hide the glued strips, is sealed with colored paper of the same color.

Then, from the wrong side of the cardboard, we begin to glue strips of colored paper of the same color with a Christmas tree, alternating shades. In the iris folding technique, strips of paper are glued according to the schemes, and we will glue them with a Christmas tree. We glue the strips with a narrow adhesive tape, well fixing the ends of the strips and the middle to the cardboard.

4. It is necessary to constantly turn the work over and look at the front side of the craft so that the adhesive tape and the edges of the strips are not visible.
5. Our spruce branches are ready.

6. Now let's get down to the Christmas decorations. To make it more beautiful, we take bright colored paper (you can also take colored sheets for the printer) and we will stick our stripes in three different ways.
7. The first ball we will glue multi-colored stripes in a circle. Do not forget to constantly look at the front side of the postcard and remove excess tape.

8. On our Christmas tree icicle, we will glue the strips on top of each other beautifully alternating them.

With this post, I start the topic of preparing for the holiday Holy Sunday of Christ - Easter and I offer a master class for making holiday cards using the iris folding technique.

The material will be useful for teachers of additional education, educators, as well as creative people who prefer to make gifts with their own hands.

Iris folding, as a kind of arts and crafts, at first glance may seem incomprehensible and difficult, but if you understand its algorithm, it turns out that it is quite simple.

For the manufacture of postcards in this technique, you can use various material. Today I offer a master class in making a holiday card using satin ribbons.

For work I needed:

iris pattern;

Cardboard for the base;

Colored cardboard;

Satin ribbons;

Various decoration elements;

Congratulations printed on the printer

You will also need an iris template (I took a ready-made one) and a cardboard base with a cut out shape on which the composition will be located

Preparation method

I attached a ready-made iris template to the front side of the base with adhesive tape, since the entire pattern will be performed on the “wrong side”

Fold the satin ribbons in half and iron carefully. Cut them into pieces and, following the algorithm given on the template, gradually glue strips of tape in a spiral, filling the inside to the central element

Then remove the template to choose the color of the ribbon for the central element. In this case, this element is a quadrangle (there are patterns with a triangle, a pentagon). This is what the finished postcard looks like.

Having chosen the color of the tape you like, close the central element with it and stick the postcard on a colored background. I chose blue

Now you can decorate the postcard with different decor elements. For example, like this

I also made another postcard using satin ribbons, but in other colors.

And although the iris pattern was the same, I slightly changed the algorithm for filling the internal space to the central element
