An almost perfect scanner for a lawyer already exists today, he would add a little autonomy and you get the perfect camera.
Watch the video and dream of the perfect scanner with us...

Dear Industrialists: Lawyers and barristers are waiting for the perfect document capture device from you, because you only have a few left…
1. Own battery, so as not to depend on the 220 volt network.
2. Own memory camera, so as not to carry a laptop and a bunch of wires.
3. Ability to assemble and disassemble for carrying to fit in a standard nettop bag.
4. Increase the height of the removed binder from 3 cm to at least 5 cm.
5. Make the black backing foldable.

Here are brief recommendations from previous articles on photographing documents:

1. The camera is a compact "soap box". The lower the weight, the better, because. photographing will take place on outstretched arms, which begin to get tired (hands tremble) and the text is lubricated. Keep in mind that you will need to capture at least 30 shots, usually around 200.
2. Touch screen- this evil".
3. Maximum possible auto-mode. Usually, fluorescent lamps blink from above, and many other factors. You came to photograph the text of the documents (all the information), you need to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible. Photos are needed for studying information, and not for showing them at a photo exhibition. Therefore, 3-4 MegaPixels and not blurry text are enough.
4. Flash forced with minimum energy. If you get information on paper: the flash can be turned off, but in this case, before releasing the shutter: we hold the camera with both hands and be sure to press our elbows to the body. Hold your breath while descending.
5. Long side of the frame to the long side of the sheet. We arrange the case as an album and turn the sheets from the bottom up. So that the sheets do not spontaneously spread, we put some kind of load on them, for example, a telephone.
6. The frame should contain page numbers (case sheets).
7. The whole thing is "from cover to cover with peels". If there is a piece of information, it should be photographed.
8. Stabilizer off. The stabilizer usually averages the values between two frames and blurs the text more.
9. Red-eye compensation disabled. Triple flash takes longer to charge and consumes more battery power.
10. Beginners take two frames per case sheet. A newcomer is a person who streams case files for the first time in a courtroom setting.
11. Certification inscription on familiarization with the materials of the court case must contain:
Date, time, number of filmed materials of the case, signature and procedural status of the person who made the acquaintance.
Example: On February 18, 2015, at 12:10 pm, he took photographs of all available case materials in the amount of 53 pp. Respondent's representative by proxy, signature, Ivanov AND.AND.

The article was written on November 24, 2014.

The investigator of the Investigative Committee for Karelia at first refused to acquaint me and the lawyer with the materials of the 6th linguistic examination, but after the court ordered him to do this, investigator Voronin allowed the lawyer to rewrite 50 (!) pages of the examination. Lawyer Olga Rybalova cannot recall such idiocy. So far, no one has been banned from using technical means to make copies of documents. Olga Petrovna appealed to the court with a statement.

The refusal of the investigator to provide a copy of the conclusion of the linguistic examination or the refusal to use the camera to take a copy before the end of the preliminary investigation violates the right to protect their rights by the suspects accused at the stage of the preliminary investigation, because it limits the possibility of using all means and methods of protection at this stage of the proceedings. In particular, it limits the right of a suspect or an accused person to contact a specialist in the field of phonoscopy and linguistics.
Article 6 of the Law on Advocacy and the Bar in the Russian Federation grants the right to a lawyer to fix (including with the help of technical means) information contained in the case file, in which the lawyer provides legal assistance while observing state and other secrets protected by law. Article 7 of the said law obliges the lawyer to honestly, reasonably and in good faith defend the rights and legitimate interests of the principal by all not prohibited by law Russian Federation means.
In accordance with Art. 47 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the accused has the right to get acquainted with the expert's opinion.
In the Decree dated February 24, 2005. 133-O, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation noted: “Guaranteeing citizens the right to familiarize themselves with documents and materials directly affecting their rights and freedoms, the Constitution of the Russian Federation, its Article 24 (part 2), empowers the legislator to establish a certain procedure and specific mechanisms for implementing this rights.
With regard to criminal proceedings, such mechanisms are enshrined in the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, which, in particular, provides for the right of the accused to know what he is accused of, to get acquainted during the preliminary investigation with certain procedural documents that are of significant importance in the case (including decision on the appointment of an examination and the expert's opinion), and upon completion of the preliminary investigation - with all the materials of the criminal case.
The regulation of the right to familiarize with the materials of a criminal case during the preliminary investigation is determined by the peculiarities of this stage of criminal proceedings and the significance of this right as a guarantee of the constitutional right to judicial protection. While fixing specific mechanisms for exercising the rights to judicial protection and familiarization with documents and materials that directly affect the rights and freedoms of interested persons, the federal legislator cannot introduce rules that would contradict the principles of criminal justice and create irremovable obstacles to the exercise of rights (including the right to appeal against the actions and decisions of the preliminary investigation bodies and the court), thereby leading to their actual abolition. Such consequences could be caused, in particular, by depriving the accused of the opportunity to receive copies of the procedural decisions he is appealing against, as well as the materials of the criminal case, which could confirm the illegality or groundlessness of the actions and decisions he contested.
In addition, since paragraph 13 of the fourth part of Article 47 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation directly enshrines the right of the accused to make copies of the materials of the criminal case, including with the help of technical means, and does not link the possibility of its implementation with only one or several stages of the criminal process, he cannot be regarded as preventing the applicant from obtaining copies of the materials of the criminal case, with which he has the right to get acquainted in the course of the preliminary investigation…”
In other words, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation confirmed the right of the accused, the suspect to receive copies of the materials of the criminal case, with which he has the right to get acquainted during the preliminary investigation, and not only after its completion.
In addition, the above-mentioned Ruling of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation should be understood in connection with the later Ruling of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation of November 15, 2007. No. 924-O-O, in which the Constitutional Court stated the following: “... the provisions of paragraphs 12 and 13 of the fourth part of Article 47 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation cannot be regarded as restricting the rights enshrined in them to familiarize themselves with the materials of a criminal case by familiarizing only with some certain documents and their copying. These norms do not exclude the right of the accused to make copies of material evidence that is an integral part of the materials of the criminal case, such as video cassettes that contain information that is important for establishing certain circumstances. It is worth noting that in this definition The Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation did not indicate that the right to make copies of physical evidence, such as video cassettes, and others, such as optical discs, arises only after the completion of the preliminary investigation. On the contrary, the Constitutional Court did not restrict both the right to familiarize with the materials of the criminal case, which the accused/suspect has the right to get acquainted with during the preliminary investigation, and the right to make copies of these case materials.
The conclusions of experts on the suspect, (accused) in a criminal case under investigation directly affect his rights, because at this stage, these materials are considered as evidence for the prosecution.
Fulfillment by the investigator of the requirements of Art. 198 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which regulates incl. the rights of the accused in the appointment and proceedings forensic examination, obviously interconnected with the provisions of Art. 206 of the Code of Criminal Procedure - by presenting an expert opinion. According to Part 1 of Art. 206 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the expert opinion is presented by the investigator to the accused and his defense counsel, who are explained the right to apply for an additional or repeated expert examination.
At the same time, it is known that in accordance with paragraph 3 of part 1 of Art. 53 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, the defender has the right to involve specialists in accordance with Art. 58 Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation. Within the meaning of Part 1 of Art. 58 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, a specialist may be involved, incl. and a lawyer to explain to him the issues included in his professional competence, incl. and at the stage of preliminary investigation.
Art. 206 of the Code of Criminal Procedure does not give an extended interpretation of the concept of presenting an expert opinion to the accused and his defense counsel. However, the article does not contain any prohibition for the defense to receive a copy of the expert's opinion. At the same time, the established part. 1 of Art. 206 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the right of the accused and the defense counsel to petition, based on the results of the presentation of the examination, for the appointment of a repeated or additional examination, obviously implies providing the indicated participants in criminal proceedings with the opportunity to study (familiarize themselves) with the expert’s opinion in detail, and not just make sure of its availability and proper procedural execution.
In addition, returning to Part 2 of Art. 24 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, it is also necessary to pay attention to the ruling of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation dated October 14, 2004 No. 329-O "On the refusal to accept for consideration the complaint of Mr. Menshchikov A.N. on violation of his constitutional rights, clause 13, part 4, article 47 Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation".
In this ruling, the Constitutional Court points out: "... the norm of paragraph 13 of part four of Article 47 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation does not imply such consequences, since it directly enshrines the right of the accused to make copies of the materials of the criminal case, including with the help of technical means, and does not bind the possibility of its implementation with only one or more stages of the criminal process".
The adversarial nature of criminal proceedings in the Russian Federation - part 1 of Art. 15 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Part 3 of Art. 123 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, despite the fact that the investigator represents the prosecution (paragraph 47, article 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure), and the defender and the accused represent the defense (paragraph 46, article 5 of the Code of Criminal Procedure), implies equality of the parties.
The powers of the investigator in a criminal case in terms of involving a specialist in the clarification of issues requiring special knowledge are defined by Part 1 of Art. 168 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in conjunction with paragraph 3 of part 2 of Art. 38 Code of Criminal Procedure.
This right of the investigator, as a party to the prosecution, corresponds to the right of the defense counsel to involve a specialist to clarify similar issues (clause 3, part 1, article 53 of the Code of Criminal Procedure).
Therefore, if the investigator refuses to the defense counsel to make a copy of the expert's opinion by his own means, it indicates that the acquaintance did not actually take place, t.to. the investigator infringed the corresponding right of the defense. Practice proceeds from the fact that if the defense party signed the protocol of familiarization, then it familiarized itself with the document. But is the defender entitled - not an expert in the field specific type forensic examinations - consider yourself familiar with the expert's opinion, if at the same time he does not understand a number of provisions of the opinion, and during familiarization (and after it) he could not resort to the help of a specialist?
I think it's not right. At the same time, the accused is fully entitled to ask the defense counsel for detailed explanations on the conclusion of the examination, which, in the absence of copies of this conclusion, the defense counsel will obviously not be able to give, and the rights to the defense will be violated.
The defender is obliged to conscientiously protect the legal rights of the client, and agreement with the violation by the investigator of the right of the client to receive a copy of an important procedural document for him may adversely affect the effectiveness of the defense, lead to a violation of the right to defense, guaranteed as Art. 47 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as Art. 6 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (including in the sense of the right to have sufficient opportunities for the implementation of their protection).
In cases where the investigator refuses to copy the procedural documents to the defense counsel, the simple signing by the defense counsel of the protocol of familiarization with the procedural documents, in fact, leads to the defense counsel concealing the illegal actions of the investigator.
In the Determination of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation of June 21, 2011 N 759-O-O On the refusal to accept for consideration the complaint of citizen Kuvaev L.A. to the violation of his constitutional rights, paragraph 6 of part 1 of Art. 53 and paragraph 2 of part 1 of Art. 198 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation states: Provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, securing the right of a defense lawyer from the moment of admission to participate in a criminal case, to get acquainted with the protocol of detention, the decision on the application of a measure of restraint, protocols of investigative actions carried out with the participation of the accused, other documents that were presented either should have been presented to the accused (paragraph 6 of the first part of Article 53), as well as the right of the accused, his defense counsel, when appointing and conducting a forensic examination, to get acquainted with the expert’s opinion, the report on the impossibility of giving an opinion and the protocol of the expert’s interrogation (paragraph 6 of the first part of Article 198), ensure the performance by the defense counsel of his procedural function, are guarantees for the accused to exercise the right to defense and cannot be considered as violating the rights of the applicant.
In addition, the procedure for exercising the right to write out any information from the criminal case in any volume and make copies of the materials of the criminal case, including with the help of technical means, is regulated by other norms of the criminal procedure law.

In this case, we can offer you budget options for classic lighting equipment. At first glance, they are cheaper than "FND-72", but, firstly, they do not have a tripod for a camera and a photophone, and, secondly, they are much more capricious and difficult to set up, so we do not give remote consultations on setting them up. . If you are inexperienced, then you will most likely need to call in a professional to properly set up the lighting scheme.

    Business plan

If you decide to go into the business of photo for documents, then you probably have a reasonable question - what is needed for this and what will it cost?
    1. Room.
Unlike art photography, ID photos do not require large areas. You can easily place a small-sized studio in a room of about 4 square meters. But now, few people open a studio just for the sake of printing photos for documents. Usually, this is a business related to trade and / or the provision of other services, so it will be enough to allocate 2 square meters from the total area of \u200b\u200bthe pavilion. So few? Yes, because we offer a solution to fit into such small spaces. The cornerstones of this solution are: program ; a Canon camera that can be used for remote photography from the "Studio Pro" program and a compact system of lighting and installation photo equipment.
    2. Equipment.
Naturally, you will need a printer to print, a computer to process and a camera to take pictures. However, nothing good will come of it if you use a regular camera flash as a light source. Firstly, it gives a very "hard" light, so the skin of the face will glare a lot. Secondly, you have to get rid of the red-eye effect. Thirdly, in each picture it will be necessary to whiten the background with an eraser and remove the shadow from the head.
At the other extreme, this is a classic scheme with three light sources: fill, drawing and background illumination. Such lighting equipment is great for artistic photography, but for ID photos it is too expensive and cumbersome.
But the scheme with one frontal source of scattered light, located strictly behind the camera, is optimal for our purposes. According to this scheme, the set recommended by us is built. It is inexpensive, very compact, extremely easy to set up and allows you to get shadow-free photos with a completely white background, which, if necessary, can be replaced with any other color in the program with minimal means.
    3. Software.
At the dawn of the transition from traditional photo printing to digital quality software many used Photoshop. In those days, regulatory authorities were loyal to "pirated" programs. Now the situation has changed dramatically, for the use of unlicensed programs you can pay a serious fine, and a license for Photoshop costs about a thousand dollars. Yes, and to work with Photoshop, specially trained personnel are required, to whom you will pay a considerable salary. We offer a licensed program that allows you to print photos on all types of documents, does not require computer skills from users and costs from 3990 to 5990 rubles, depending on the configuration. And thanks to the remote control function for Canon cameras, this program allows you to use it with lighting equipment.
Let's figure out the costs. Surely you have an old computer, a table, a chair, so we will not take them into account. It remains to buy:

If this amount still does not fit into your budget, then instead of a new SLR camera, you can buy an amateur or used Canon SLR camera, which is controlled from the program, for example, Canon PowerShot: A620, A640, SX100-iS, SX110-iS, S3-iS, S5-iS (full list of models below). And instead of a Canon Pixma G1400 printer with a factory CISS, use a cheaper, but no less high-quality Canon PIXMA iP7240 printer. On this you will save about 18 thousand rubles.

    * You will buy a camera and a printer yourself, and we will send you a set of specialized mounting and lighting photo equipment and a licensed program from anywhere in Russia and the CIS.

Agree, $500 is not that much to start a new business. Of course, you still have to invest in advertising; for rent; in the registration of individual entrepreneurs, etc. But these are completely different expense items that do not depend on what you will be doing, photos for documents or any other business. And if you have a couple of square meters of free space, why not try to make a profit from them.

Controlling the camera from a computer:

You probably know that most digital cameras do not allow you to take pictures if they are connected to a computer with a USB cable. Therefore, in the process of making photos for documents, after each shooting you will have to connect the camera to a computer, download a file from it memory cards, process and print a photo, disconnect the camera from the computer again, and only after that you can shoot the next client. However, thanks to the remote control function implemented in the program for the models of cameras listed below, you can greatly simplify this procedure and create a kind of automated workplace operator. This function allows you to set all the necessary shooting parameters (zoom, flash mode, white balance, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, ...) and take pictures directly from your computer. You install the camera on a tripod, connect it with a USB cable to the computer and use the program to take pictures with it by pressing the buttons on the keyboard. After each shooting, the photo is automatically transferred from the camera to the computer, you process it and immediately print it. The whole procedure for printing a photo on documents takes about 2-3 minutes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to see the monitor being photographed on the screen in the video preview mode, which will allow you to shoot even when the operator has to sit with his back or side to the client.

If you have a Canon camera and its model is in the list below, then List of cameras that can be controlled remotely:

    • Canon EOS mirror:
      40D, 50D, 60D, 70D, 100D, 200D;
      450D, 500D, 550D, 600D, 650D, 700D, 750D;
      1000D, 1100D, 1200D, 1300D, 2000D, 4000D.
    • Canon PowerShot: S-60*, Pro-1*, G-5*, G-6*, A-75*, A-80*, A-85*, A-95*, A-510*, A-520* , A-620, A-640, G-7, G-9, G-10, SX100-iS, SX110-iS, S3-iS, S5-iS.
Camera models marked with * are controlled only under Windows XP, all others under: XP, Win-7, Win-8, Win-8.1, Win-10
For compatibility of the above photo equipment kits with Canon EOS: 4000D and 2000D cameras, an additional external digital optical second pulse synchronizer is required, which is purchased separately.

Attention!!! If your camera model NOT present on the list, it is most likely NOT controlled from a computer. The list of supported cameras is determined not by the program, but by the presence of the remote control function in the cameras themselves (in the microprocessor firmware). Unfortunately, manufacturers began to save money (tough competition forces them) and equip not the entire model range with this function, but only expensive cameras. It is believed that this option is needed only for professional use, so new amateur models do not have it. Olympus since 2007, and Canon since 2009, equip it only with SLR cameras.

    Hello.
Until tomorrow, I need to decide on a camera for documents.
Many pages (criminal cases) are photographed (the sooner the better) in different conditions (good light and not so good) for further thoughtful review.
Once used Sony Cibershot. Everything suited. So Sony first.

Request: tell me the models of a compact (always in your pocket) device for shooting pages with text and pictures (up to 200 or more pages at a time) with your hands. There are many pages, the light is not always good. There is not much time.
    There are such models: http://www.dns-shop.ru/abakan/price.php?c=7000116

    Thanks to.

You will fit ANY compact with a matrix ranging from 8 megapixels or more. A4 text documents will be shot in great detail.
I use a compact with "periscope" optics, i.e., which does not leave the case. Because I have a camera either in my pocket or in my bag, then accidentally turning on the camera with a conventional lens will lead to damage to the optics, especially if the camera is in my pocket. And with "periscopes" there is simply no such problem! At most, if it turns on, the battery will be discharged.
So take any camera that suits you.

I have a bankyu DC c750 for this purpose, it is worn, not a periscope, only 7 megapixels. Coping.

I have a pentax optio s7. It shoots text very well, there are even 3 modes for text. Compact, fits into a pack of cigarettes. The only downside is it's not very fast.

I understand that after normal equipment, any digital soap is considered as a doshirak / Rolton after a normal kitchen - no difference, everything is equally bad, just chemistry.

but there are differences between soap dishes with a stabilizer and the number of frames per second?
Photographed, for example, 2 volumes of the criminal case. One is flipping. the second is taking pictures. 400 pages in half an hour or an hour and a half - there is a difference.

    No difference!
I have been doing photography for 25 years, I have tried an incredible amount of cameras. Last year did not get out of the courts. The stabilizer does not affect the speed of work. Burst speed too. For most of the time, if you work alone, it takes you to leaf through the case and fix the file being removed in a more or less motionless state. The shooting itself takes a few seconds. I just put on the "series", do a few takes - and go.
I didn’t shoot 400 pages of the case, but fifty at a time - I constantly had to. The main waste of time, I repeat, is turning pages and fixing the sheet. If I had a high-speed reporter SLR EOS Mark IV, then shooting with it would not be a second faster than a compact one.

I consider digital compacts not as "digital soap", but as very handy tool for highly specific shooting tasks. If you know how to use all this, the actual characteristics of the camera are no longer so important.

I have a Sony C80 old 4 megapixel camera. When I took it, I compared it with Canon and the frame recording speed was just several times. That is, the Canon screen darkened for a second, which was not noticeable on Sonya. Wait longer for the flash to charge. Recently I took a Canon A480 to a friend - a completely different device, although it costs a penny.

the difference in price means - marketing intrigues and no more?

Not really. Just a camera - a DSLR or a compact - is simply a tool for certain tasks. For the task you described, almost any camera from a serious manufacturer will do. they all have technical specifications will allow you much more than you have formulated as your photo task.

Now memory cards are faster, and cameras are much faster.

A480 is a chic device! If you don't listen to various pripontovannyh and non-poor comrades, something de "digitally washed it sucks" - then cheap compacts can give a VERY decent result. I shot with the 480th - traditionally for Canon, excellent pictures were obtained (of course, taking into account that this is, after all, a compact with a small matrix).
In general, Canon has an "A" line - this is VERY good cameras for VERY reasonable money. Iksusy - also good, but more expensive.

    Sincerely.

You know, the last two years - I no longer recommend specific cameras to anyone. I only recommend manufacturers. These are well-known photo firms: Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Fuji. Casio, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung are very good. But the rest - the same Recams, for example - shoot very decently (for their characteristics and prices). You just don't need to demand results from a $150 camera like you would from a $5,000 DSLR.

And so - go to any decent store, hold the cameras in your hands, climb the menu. Sometimes it is important that a person is satisfied with the menu system. Sometimes it's enough for the camera to just "fit into your hand". For, I repeat - starting from the resolution of 8 megapixels, the re-shooting of A4 documents will be done quite decently by PRACTICALLY ANY camera, the detailing will be sufficient not only for text, but also for graphics. More than a dozen cases reshot like that.

The only thing - check that there is a burst mode. This is convenient when you are reshooting a lot of documents.
And - of course, especially expensive cameras will, IMHO, be somewhat redundant for the tasks you described. In general, cameras under $100-150 will more than successfully solve your problems.
