Several New York journalists play New Yorker curators and explain how to read each issue of the legendary magazine: which articles to read in full, which ones to slip your fingers through. I use it as a filter for selecting articles within each issue; sometimes I don’t even get to the source and just laugh at the successful jokes of the curators.

A blog nurturing a great shape in journalism. long reads by edition or year: once failed in a feature in 1974 about a brutal murder in Texas. It sucked no worse than True Detective. You can set up a filter for your favorite publications and read longreads exclusively from them - there are many options. The blog lives on the pure enthusiasm of the creators, who have been finding and preserving for future generations the great and beautiful stories of American journalism.

movie lovers, modern technologies and production side. I subscribed to them when they covered the work of Google, now Backchannel talks about the behind the scenes of filming a movie about Edward Snowden, American miners hastily learning to code, and so on.

Russian creative industry professionals; I mainly follow #copywriting and #books channels. The community is reminiscent of the Skype chats of the early 2000s; here you can learn new things from the world of UI / UX design, programming, generative art, wetware and much more. And right there you can find extra money and a partner for a crazy startup that you didn’t dare to take on.

For those who study modern liberal and human sciences. Well-scanned books on cultural anthropology, historical sociology, graphic design, and so on. The best alternative to Wikipedia on frosty winter days.

Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at Columbia University, a drug addiction specialist with a mixed history of childhood in troubled areas of Miami and arrests for petty disorderly conduct and drug use. In his lectures and articles, he tries to fight the myth of irresistible addiction, explains how parents can talk to their children about drugs, and tries to somehow influence the end of the criminalization of illicit substances.

In Russian, he talks about how to grow blue crystals at home and how to make an explosion using a Snickers bar. It seems that not a single Russian-language channel about science has yet gained one and a half million views.

Cosmos: An Odyssey Through Space and Time national geographic. Only teasers for the series are posted there, but it is hardly necessary to explain where you can download the entire series. The host is one of the most charismatic popularizers of science, astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson. There are 13 episodes in total - and this is the most beautiful visualization of stories about how astrology turned into astronomy, how the date of the Big Bang was calculated and what evidence there is for global warming.

The premier science festival based in New York. There is a video from the speeches of leading scientists at the show "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants" and several thematic channels about physics, mathematics, technology, as well as a separate playlist of the founder of the festival and one of the most famous modern physicists Brian Greene, who literally explains the theory of relativity and discusses whether Einstein believed in God.

Irregular, but extremely entertaining, which is led by an ex-teacher of Moscow State University and an expert on Vonnegut, is named after the famous novel by Paul Murray: unobtrusive academicism and the reception of actual prose are combined here with a long-awaited marriage. Skippy's Facebook page is also noteworthy: the author is a regular at The Question and a prolific book reviewer.

Not very neat from a design point of view, invented 12 years ago and since then has grown to a place where it is shameless to publish figures of the level of Jeffrey Eugenides or Juno Diaz. Half an hour in a second-hand book store, reading about sports, the cinematic nature of Patricia Highsmith's novels - this is probably what Vulture looks like in a parallel world, instead of Jessica Jones and The Hunger Games, writing about Marlon James and Michael Cunningham with the same intensity.

An outstanding, in the Sebaldian spirit, project to rescue unpopular writers from the realm of the dead - or, let's say less solemnly, a navigator for those who have drawn on the repertoire of Inostranka and Kolonna Publications and already know that non-ceremonial Western literature is not limited to Cioran or Guibert. Have you ever heard of Sophie Lyons? Walt Ruding? Joseph Peladan? That's the same.

An exemplary account of one of the best bookstores in Moscow, where you need to go for announcements literary events, links to book novelties, archival delights and reposts from various fields of humanitarian knowledge. From time to time it turns into a search bureau for bibliographic rarities: the interests of the local community are truly limitless.

Not so much educational, in which a quote from a classic or contemporary work is matched to a screenshot of a famous film, TV series or phenomenon of mass consciousness. Zweig and "Mad Men", Camus and "Mr. Robot", Franzen and Kanye West - the rhyming of literature and pop culture only at first glance seems frivolous: this is how, in general, any comparative studies are arranged on the knee - that is, sorry, art recap.

Anastasia Zavozova (translator)

News of the English-language literary Internet. In addition to links to all the interesting things that happened to the books during the day (it makes sense to subscribe to the newsletter), the site also generates its content through pretty nice literary people who "can do a lot of geeks" but don't ask too much.

Poet, editor and translator Lev Oborin. Every day, links are published here to all significant literary articles, reviews, events and incidents and - most valuable - these are just links - without opinions, statements, excerpts, views from the editors.

About everything about modern American literature: in opinions, reviews and pictures. It seems that a hundred people write to the site at once, so the flow of posts in the reader can sometimes go off scale, but it makes sense to go here because - every evening you receive notifications in the mail that this or that book can be bought at a discount, and on This site has a very good selection of books. These are not romance novels with women covered in sex on the covers (namely, 90 percent of discount aggregator sites are full of such offers), but decent modern fiction.

For any specialist in Victorian culture. Its author, writer and historian Lee Jackson, collected in one place a bunch of everything that belongs to the Victorian era - from maps and pictures to clarification of slang turns and excerpts from magazines, encyclopedias and popular novels of that time.

Rita Popova (ex-chief editor of Look At Me)

The only person I do not know, whose opinion I am interested in in general on all issues. Thanks to The Content Wars series, you can make sure that the future has not prepared anything good for us (and we ourselves are to blame for this), and then move on to the main thing: robots that constantly declare their love and the fashion for caps.

An amazing blog, a slice of the future at its best. It helps a lot with a blurry view of technology, when everything new seems like an endless version of something seen in 2012.

I have a rule: if you can't look at something disgusting on the internet, don't look. Grow Foster for me, and his witty and informative mailing is one of the main reasons to get up in the morning.

I really wanted to include a cool telegram channel in the list, and my colleague is about technology, science and geek culture. In my opinion, he managed to find a balance between the personal and the general interest - this is rare.

I understand that the pro doctor on cocaine doesn't fit into the standard tech buff set and takes the place of other worthy contenders (like the Media Skunk blog or the Aeon website). But there are two important things. First, technology plays a much larger role here than it seems (as in our lives, can you imagine?). And secondly, I already don’t know how to persuade everyone to watch this series. He is really very good.

Beginning email writers have three troubles: what to write, where to find subscribers, and how to send them emails so they don't go into spam.
Today we will analyze in detail the third component of the mailing list, how to guarantee the delivery of letters to your regular readers.

First, let's define the problem clearly. Services will be judged from the point of view of an aspiring author who:

  • There is something to regularly inform your readers about;
  • There is a site. (Place subscription forms);
  • There is a small subscription base from 200 to 15,000 people;
  • It has general idea about Internet technologies.
About:
  • What and how to write;
  • Recruit the first subscribers;
  • Create signup pages.
Will be covered in other articles.

Many sites, hosting, CRM have built-in systems that allow you to make regular personal mailings, there are convenient email programs with the same functions, they are easy to install and easy to use. But as soon as the number of sent letters exceeds 50-100 pieces, these systems will fail, sending the entire batch of letters to spam. This phenomenon is inevitable, even if you create each letter by hand and send a personal copy.

The process of setting up your own mailing server is extremely time-consuming, quite expensive and very troublesome. I will not dwell on it in detail, this experience is not something to be repeated, I don’t even want to remember. Equally dreary communication with those. support for receiving mail servers and setting up sending servers. Constantly something broke either at the reception or at the dispatch. For myself, I firmly decided that I place hosting and newsletters only on professional services.

I'll start with a recommendation and a gift.

Convenient and polite sendpulse.com service - I recommend

Based on the results of my research, the choice was made on the new service sendpulse.com For the time being, I will settle on a free account, its capabilities will be enough for the next 1-2 months. Then I'll switch to paid. I really liked that immediately after the registration was followed by a call from the manager. There are enough functions for comfortable conducting regular mailing. The rest of the services (Landings, CRM, etc.) are already implemented by our internal services. So the quantity and quality of functions for me turned out to be optimal. For those who only need mailing, this service will be an excellent working tool. Everything is clear to any beginner. At the same time, there is access to the code of the provided component, I can “finish it” if desired. (Which happens often)

All those who subscribe to our mailing list before September 30 will be enrolled in the introductory course for free and will receive a weekly e-mail marketing course as a gift. As well as access to the sale of distance and video courses.

Runet leader smartresponder.ru

Closed from November 1, 2016

This service is preferred by leading information businessmen. Good service with great, convenient functionality. You can make beautiful letter templates, structure the base, create subscription forms.
I did not like that on the first tariffs it was not possible to change the standard subscription confirmation page, add a link to receive a gift. Last used over a year ago. Perhaps something has changed since then.

Everything is implemented with high quality, understandable, convenient for beginners. Personally, I'm not very comfortable with such services. They have their own logic and their own interface, which perfectly helps a beginner, but confuses a "techie" like me. The same technical discomfort was caused by unisender.com and pechkin.com As a developer, I fully support the policy of these services. The mass inexperienced user must be supported in this way. All three services are good to start with. You can choose the optimal tariff yourself based on the size of the subscription base and the number of letters.

Good stable www.unisender.com

It gives you the opportunity to create beautiful email templates for mailing, these are mostly remembered. Functionally similar to smartresponder. Works at the same consistently good level.

pechkin.com

The impression was indirect, I did not work with him myself. According to the reviews of colleagues, it is normal and convenient to work. It would not be right to ignore such a large service. I personally just have no luck with it, when I tried to register for the first time, there was a failure on the service itself, the second time at my Internet provider.

English language service mailchimp.com

This service is loved by professionals. Good for free use up to 1000 subscribers. Then there will be problems with payment. For most users, the English-language interface will become an unpleasant nuance in the work, and the logic of foreign manufacturers is not always convenient to perceive.

More than just justclick.ru newsletter

This service can not only send out newsletters, but also successfully replace a whole team of professionals. It will take several hours just to view the supporting materials. But you can immediately make all the necessary elements, and get to work. The lack of a website or technical knowledge will not be an obstacle. To get started, it is desirable to have at least a small client base, since you will immediately have to pay for the account. Pleased with the presence affiliate program, visual analytics and competent technical support.

New service with great functionality autoweboffice.com

At first glance, the fullness and scope of the functions of this service simply struck and delighted. It seems to have everything you need for online marketing.

There were two minuses. The first is subjective, each time you have to confirm the account with a request to the mail, the loss of 10-15 minutes (the letter arrives during this time) is very annoying.

The second minus is insurmountable for me, there is no function to import the client base. This is a service for which you need to pay or add by the piece. We use many tools for registration, not in all cases the form of this particular service is convenient. Transferring up to 1000 accounts individually is unpleasant, and accessing the service every time is expensive and inconvenient. If in this aspect the administration of the service changes the policy, I will be happy to use their services.

On the this moment it is the most complete, convenient and modern integrated service found on the Internet. Prices are also pleasing, tariffs are affordable even for beginners. There is a trial period of 30 days.

The oldest mailing service subscribe.ru

When the resource rating was already compiled, and it seemed that there was nothing to add to the topic. I had an unexpected thought, to check the services that helped take the first steps in the emerging Internet. The result exceeded all expectations. One of the two services subscribe.ru, which has been memorable since 1997, did not just end up in place. It continues to provide completely free of charge full unlimited functionality for legal mailing. The change in design and improvement of the functional interface benefited the resource. I have not yet studied all the innovations, but everything you need has already been found. So meet our newsletter on the subscribe.ru service

The unchanging tool and the main medium that helps in email marketing is the email marketing service.

It is in them that you can create, configure and send letters to the subscriber base. In this article, we have compiled a rating of services and programs for mass sending letters to email so that you can choose the most convenient and profitable for yourself.

Get down to business!

Every entrepreneur or email marketer has their own set of criteria by which they select the perfect email marketing service.

We have compiled the top services according to the following criteria: a free trial version, ready-made templates, statistics and a click map.

6. Aweber

Aweber

The service positions itself as handy tool for small and medium businesses. It has many advantages, for example, it allows you to segment the database by actions on the site.

Also in the service you will find 700+ templates adapted for mobile devices. And the gallery contains 3000+ stock images.

Interface

There is no free version, instead the developers offer a trial period of 30 days. Rates range from $19 to $149 per month.

And if your database has more than 25 thousand subscribers, then you need to contact the administration to calculate the cost. But in this service there are no restrictions on letters on any tariff.

8. Sendpulse

Sendpulse

Mailing service with a user-friendly interface and fast moderation of letters. One of its highlights is the SendPulse Artificial Intelligence.

At the same time, the service reacts to the activity of each user: it determines the time when he most often opens letters, and the communication channel he is used to.

Thus, SendPulse sends repeated mailings taking into account these two parameters.

Interface

There is also a click map, a graph of subscriber activity by day, and error statistics.

eSputnik

This is one of the most flexible email distribution services on the Russian Internet, which is especially suitable for online stores.

If you decide to switch from another tool to eSputnik, they will help you with this. Of the highlights - blocks with dynamic data.

Their content changes depending on the data of the subscriber to whom the letter is sent. So, for example, you can send “Abandoned View”, “Abandoned Cart”, etc.

The service generates product cards. In the blocks with products, you only add a link to the product, and eSputnik inserts it into the email itself. The tool also has advanced segmentation.

You add any fields in the contact profile, such as how many purchases the subscriber has made.

And in order not to annoy customers with letters, use the “Anxiety level” function and set the desired value.

Interface

The first 2500 letters to 500 contacts are sent free of charge. The subscription fee starts from 500 rubles. eSputnik also offers a subscription fee: the user pays 0.125 rubles for 1 letter.

Also, the service has two plugins built in: Glavred (checking for stop words and for compliance with the information style) and SpamAssassin (checking for spam words).

11.Mailerlite

Mailerlite

The service is designed for freelancers, bloggers and small businesses. It is simple in design and easy to understand even for a beginner.

One of the features of the service is automatic re-sending. If the subscriber did not open the letter, then after a while it is sent again, but already modified. According to MailerLite, this increases email open rates by 30%.

There are also separate statistics for each subscriber and his activity, which is very convenient.

Interface

On the free plan, you can send an unlimited number of emails per 1,000 subscribers.

The paid plan starts at $10. But if you have more than 50 thousand subscribers, then the price is calculated individually.

Pros :

  • Interface and support in Russian;
  • Support responds quickly (up to 5 minutes) and helps to sort out problems;

  • Transactional and trigger emails are adjusted via API;

  • Few integrations (46), especially with CRM systems;
  • No spam check.

12. Campaign monitor

Campaign monitor

Another service whose clients are 200,000 small and medium-sized businesses. Despite the fact that there are only 53 templates in the service, they all look stylish and adapt to any device.

The problem with HTML templates is that you often have to make them yourself using less attractive fonts.

Subscriber segmentation is similar to the GetResponse service. In Campaign Monitor, you also create segments and exclude or add them when you submit.

Interface

But there is also a fly in the ointment: data is not automatically imported from your site. They have to be collected either through the Getresponse subscription forms or through the API.

First, they are loaded into one group, and then you add them to the automation. And so every time when there are new subscribers.

On the trial version, you can create a campaign and send emails to only 5 subscribers. The service costs from $9 per month.

Pros :

  • Nice ready-made templates;
  • Integration with CRM and CMS and other systems for e-commerce;
  • Integration with Google Analytics;
  • Flexible segmentation;
  • Email tracking and analytics;
  • A/B testing;
  • Spam check.

Minuses :

  • Interface and support completely in English;
  • An inconvenient free version that does not allow you to evaluate all the features of the service.

13.Vertical Response

vertical response

This service is especially suitable for those who add a lot of pictures to the letter. The image editor has ample opportunities: playing with contrasts, saturation and focus, adding stickers, etc.

Thus, you do not need to switch to a separate image editing application. All in one place.

But the service also has a weak point. When you import a list of subscribers, not all user data will be loaded, as there are no required fields.

This is reflected in the segmentation. For example, an online store will not be able to send emails with offers only to women.

To do this, you will have to separately upload the lists of women or men, and then import them into the service.

Interface

On the free version you can send 4000 emails to 300 contacts per month. The minimum cost of the tariff is $11 per month without limit in letters.

Pros :

  • Functional image editor;
  • Automated repeat emails;
  • Implementation of trigger and transactional emails via API;
  • Integration with Google Analytics and with 31 systems (Salesforce, Zapier, WordPress, etc.);
  • Email statistics and click map;
  • A/B testing.

Minuses :

  • Inflexible segmentation;
  • Many templates, but they are with a simple design.

14. Benchmark Email

Benchmark Email

Service with a convenient and intuitive interface. It offers 400+ templates in modern design that adapt to any device.

The text editor needs work, it has few fonts and Header 1 is missing.

There is also little functionality in the picture editor, for example, you will have to resize images in a third-party application.

Interface

All in all, Benchmark Email has it all. standard features for email marketing. But they are not as deeply thought out as other competing services.

But the tool has an advantageous free plan, where you can send 14,000 letters to 2,000 contacts per month. The paid package starts at $14/mo.

Pros :

  • Convenient interface;
  • 400+ neat templates in modern design;
  • Profitable free version;
  • Database segmentation and automation by triggers;
  • Standard mailing statistics;
  • Integration with Google Analytics and 300+ systems, applications and social networks;
  • A/B tests;
  • Spam check.

Minuses :

  • Interface and support in English;
  • The text and image editors need to be improved.

15. Madmimi

Madmimi

Tool for small business with favorable prices compared to other services. The interface is very simplified, as is the functionality itself.

Templates are limited to just choosing a color, but the block designer has ample opportunities to create your own template. You can also order it from the authors of the project.

Interface

The service does not have the ability to segment the audience or view advanced email analytics.

But letters sent from Madmimi do not end up in spam. The service is suitable only for those who need to create beautiful letters. The authors of the project are aimed at this niche.

On the free plan, you can only send emails to 100 subscribers. Tariff plan starts from $10 per month.

Pros :

  • Block constructor;
  • Service specialists are ready to help with setting up the API for trigger and transactional emails;
  • Reports on clicks, opens and engagement;
  • Integration with Google Analytics;
  • Spam check.

Minuses :

  • Interface and support in English only;
  • The service is easy to use, but it has little functionality;
  • Does not provide an opportunity to conduct A / B testing;
  • No heatmap.

16. Email Mailer

email mailer

The advantage of ePochta Mailer is that it has no limits on the number of subscribers.

This distinguishes the program from web services, where the tariff depends on the size of the base.

In general, the analytics is deep, but the separation of statistics from the main program is inconvenient.

Interface

The cost of ePochta Mailer is 2,900 rubles. When updates are released, the user pays for the upgrade to the new version. Before you buy the program, you can download a demo version for free.

Pros :

  • Interface and support in Russian;
  • Text and HTML editor;
  • Ready templates;
  • Spam check;
  • Integration with other services via API;
  • Integration with Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrica.

Minuses :

  • The interface is simple and clear, but it seems that it was developed back in the 90s. Templates give the same impression;
  • Compared to web services, segmentation and automation is not deep;
  • Many complaints about the work of technical support;
  • Separation of analytics and email settings into two different programs.

17. AMS Enterprise

AMS Enterprise

Another email marketing program with the ability to create highly personalized emails.

For example, take into account the name of the subscriber, his position, the company where he works, and so on.

In the program, the user sets the rules according to which the data in the letter changes depending on the addressee, his interests and field of activity.

Interface

AMS Enterprise automatically launches emails on time or at Windows startup, depending on your settings.

You can also create flexible rules for mailing automation. The cost of AMS Enterprise is 8,250 rubles. Before buying, the developers offer to go through a trial period.

Pros :

  • The program is bought only once, there is no need to pay for annual updates;
  • Unlimited number of recipients;
  • Deep personalization and dynamic data.
  • Text and HTML format messages;
  • Real-time mailing statistics;
  • Integration with Google Analytics and Yandex Metrika.

Minuses :

  • Ambiguous and outdated interface;
  • Heavy program setup;
  • Few integrations with other tools;
  • No spam check;
  • Little functionality.

Briefly about the main

Email distribution systems (Mailchimp, Unisender and others) can block an account if the database contains a lot of non-existent addresses, or if there are complaints of spam after the mailing. Unisender, for example, will block you if the percentage of spam complaints is more than 0.5% for two weeks.

To avoid unpleasant surprises and not to lose money and time, there are services for checking email addresses. They are especially important when you got an email database from a partner (i.e. its quality is not guaranteed) or your mailing list has been on the shelf for a couple of years.

Daniil Silantiev at a webinar on Mailchimp kindly recommended a number of services for checking mail. I chose several Russian and foreign services and added a service for checking names to them:

  • MailValidator.ru (Russian service).
  • DataValidation.com (recommended by Mailchimp).
  • BriteVerify.com (recommended by Mailchimp).
  • DaData.ru (Russian service, checks names).

I checked the services on my mailing list to see if they were worth using. To do this, it was necessary to take a large sample of addresses, for which it is known which addresses are correct and which are not. I have just accumulated statistics on mailings from M ailchimp on a list of 2479 users, so I know which emails in the list are bad and which emails definitely reach.

For each service, I took several indicators:

  • price;
  • work speed;
  • the service removed the email that was used to deliver the mail (removed it incorrectly);
  • the service did not remove invalid emails.

What happened - read below.

MailValidator.ru

Excludes syntactically incorrect addresses, removes duplicates. Declares that it uses several mailing services (not disclosed) to exclude undelivered and erroneous addresses. Unlike Western colleagues, the service returns only a list of emails, without explaining the reasons why it removed this or that address.

The check was completed in a couple of minutes.

The cost of processing the list is 619.75 rubles, 0.25 rubles per email.

After the first purchase, they give a coupon for a 20% discount, valid for 7 days.

Here is what the database report looks like:

As a result, 2280 users remained in the database.

Removed the email that Mailchimp delivers mail to - 190 out of 2416 (7%).

At took emails that Mailchimp recognized as incorrect - 3 out of 63 (5%).

These are the lowest rates of all services, when mailing e from Mailchimp, this service would be useless.

DataValidation.com

Uses stop lists of Mailchimp and a number of other Western services (listed on site) to exclude undelivered and erroneous addresses.

The cost of processing is $17.35 or 1063.47 rubles at today's exchange rate. It's 42 kopecks for an address.

The database report looks like this:

As a result, 1622 addresses remained in the database.

Removed emails that Mailchimp delivers mail to - 797 out of 2416 (32%).

Removed emails that Mailchimp found invalid - 60 out of 63 (95%).

This service found almost all “bad” e-mails (95%), but at the same time removed a third of the base of real users (32%).

BriteVerify.com

The service immediately upon registration requires a credit card and already before processing the list withdrew money from me.

They charged me 1,739.58 rubles (18.59 GBP) for processing the list. It turns out 70 kopecks for the address.

As a result of the work, the service left 1800 addresses in the database.

Removed emails that Mailchimp delivers mail to - 57 out of 2416 (2%).

Removed emails that Mailchimp found invalid - 16 out of 63 (26%).

This service was the least wrong in terms of good addresses (2%), but found fewer bad ones than DataValidation (26% instead of 95% for Datavalidation).

DaData.ru

The service cuts off only syntactically incorrect email addresses and addresses with incorrect domains. There was not a single such email in my list, so the effect of the service was zero for me.

I use this service to check usernames and gender before each mailing. Processing names along with email costs 247.9 rubles (10 kopecks per entry).

After processing the list, the service issues a status for each name - doubtful or correct - put down the gender. Useful for filtering out names that are actually surnames, and names without gender (or with an incomprehensible gender). I leave the correct names "as is". Doubtful correct manually and upload with email to Mailchimp.

Summary

Email verification services are suspicious and exclude up to a third of good addresses from mailing lists - from 2 to 32% of the good addresses that I received the mailing from, they recognized as bad. Bad addresses were better - for example, Datavalidation found almost all of them (95%) . It seems that email verification services should only be used on lists where it is better to remove half of the base, but get rid of all the bad ones.

As I understood from reading the documentation, the quality of verification depends on the mailing services to which the verification services have access. And it is impossible to check whether this or that email exists using algorithms.

1. Datavalidation (best of all highlighted bad emails - 95%). best service to check before sending Mailchimp.

2. Briteverify (singled out bad emails worse - 27%, but removed only 2% of good addresses).

3. Mailvalidator (removed only 7% of bad emails).

Plus, checking names through DaData.ru, if you use address by name in the mailing list.

It would be interesting to hear your experience - do you use email verification tools, and what exactly.

Often the subscription form is located in the promotions and news section. This is logical. If the user has entered this section, then he is interested in promotions and special offers. Most likely, he will not refuse to receive them in the mail.

Subscription form in the "Wow promotions!" section:

If the user watches the section for two or three minutes and does not buy anything, a window pops up:

Mini banners

The mini-banner leads to a special subscription page. Such a banner can be made animated and placed almost anywhere on the site.

Subscription at checkout and registration

The mechanics are next. The user fills in information about himself in order to place an order or register on the site. At the end of the form, he puts a checkmark "Subscribe to the newsletter."

Sometimes a caring marketer checks the box himself, and the user can uncheck it. But a good tone is when the user ticks the box.

"Agent"

The registration form asks for a name, personalization in letters (full name) or segmentation (gender, type, birthday).

Common Mistakes

10 stores out of 100 do not have a subscription form or registration on the site. For example, at homeme.ru and audiomania.ru. For 2 out of 10 stores (xcom-shop.ru and kolesa-darom.ru) you can subscribe to the newsletter when placing your first order.

The remaining 8 online stores require or do not require an email address, but nothing is said about the subscription.

How to start building a base

List of subscribers. In the mailing platform, create a list of subscribers (list). When you place a subscription form on the site, the collected addresses will automatically fall into this list.

Subscription form. Inside the mailing platform there is a function - to create a subscription form. There you can also adjust the number of fields, text and size of the form. The text should tell you what the value of the mailing is. Useful content (articles and videos) and good discounts on good goods(see examples above).

Placement of the form on the site. Choose a place on the site where to put the subscription form (see examples above). Place the form code on the site yourself, or give it to the developer. When the form is posted - test, enter your address. After 2-10 minutes, he should get into the list of subscribers.

What's next

If you need to divide the database into segments. Many ecommerce projects segment the base at the subscription stage. Statistics say that the more fields, the lower the conversion. And this is logical: the fewer actions you need to perform, the easier it is to click on the button.

Therefore, in the form you can only ask for mail, and when a person subscribes, offer to fill in the rest of the data in your personal account.

Automatic emails after subscription. The mailing platform can be configured to automatically send one or more welcome emails to a person immediately after signing up. It could be a greeting from the director, a story about the benefits of the store, or a few letters with your best useful articles.
