Project development history

The project of a large anti-submarine ship of project 1155 (code "Frigate") was developed by the Northern Design Bureau under the leadership of N. P. Sobolev and V. P. Mishin. According to the initial TTZ (tactical and technical specifications) of 1972-1973, the ship was designed as a development of project 1135 patrol ships with the elimination of the latter's shortcomings (including: the absence of a helicopter and the imperfection of hydroacoustic means that were not capable of providing target designation of the PLUR for the full range of fire - 90 km ). Initially, it was planned to limit the standard displacement of the BOD to 4000 tons, but in the end, size restrictions were abandoned due to the introduction in the TTZ of the requirement to place a new generation of SJSC "Polynom" on ships of the project, which has larger weight and size characteristics than the SJSC of the previous type "Titan-2" and "Titan -2T".

Design

Power plant

The main power plant, completely identical to the power plant installed on the patrol ships of project 1135 Burevestnik, consists of 2 GTA (gas-turbine units) M9, each of which is designed so that it works only on its shaft line. Each unit includes a main engine GTD D090 with a capacity of 9000 hp. With. and afterburner gas turbine engine DT59 with a capacity of 22,500 liters. With. An emergency control post for afterburner GTAs is provided; in the normal functioning of all systems of the ship, the main mechanisms are controlled using a pneumoelectric system. The gas outlet from the GTA is carried out from each echelon into 2 chimneys: this allows, if necessary, to make an aggregate replacement of the gas turbine engine.

The electric power system consists of 4 (2 each in the bow and stern engine rooms) GTG-1250-2 gas turbine generators of 1250 kW each, of which one GTG in each of the engine rooms of the ship has heat recovery boilers operating on the heat transfer of the GTG flue gases, which supplement the steam capacity steam boilers and provide steam to general ship consumers.

Project evaluation

After the commissioning of the first ships of project 1155 and the accumulation of experience in their operation, at one of the meetings with the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy S. G. Gorshkov in 1983, the question was raised about the shortcomings of the project 1155. These were the absence of anti-ship missiles on the ship, weak anti-aircraft and artillery weapons.

Based on the results of consideration by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, S. G. Gorshkov, he decided to develop a modification of the ship with reinforced artillery and guided missile weapons. V.P. Mishin became the chief designer of the new project 1155.1, his assistants for project 1155 were appointed deputies, later I.M. Shramko was appointed deputy, and N.A. Andreev was appointed chief observer.

While maintaining almost all shipbuilding elements in the new project, the Metel anti-submarine missile system was replaced by the Moskit anti-ship missile system, 533 mm torpedo tubes - by the Vodopad universal anti-submarine complex, and two 100-mm AK-100 artillery mounts by one 130- mm AK-130, RBU-6000 rocket launchers - on the Udav-1 anti-torpedo defense missile system, 30-mm AK-630M assault rifles - on the Kortik air defense system, and Polinom SJSC - on the Zvezda-2 SJSC .

To improve seaworthiness, improve the conditions for using weapons and crew comfort, a roll stabilizer with non-retractable rudders was installed for the first time on the BOD of project 11551. Compared to the previously used dampers with retractable rudders, the new damper began to occupy much smaller volumes, and was made in the form of a single unit.

A comparative assessment of the set of solved anti-submarine, anti-torpedo, missile defense and anti-ship tasks of the BOD of project 1155.1 and the ship of project 1155 shows that the BOD of project 1155.1 exceeds its predecessor by 1.3-1.4 times and, in essence, is a prototype for promising multi-purpose guard ships. The engineering solutions embedded in it and the high modernization potential can be the basis for creating new (including export) options that take into account the requirements of the customer as much as possible. The Russian Navy has only one ship of this project - "Admiral Chabanenko".

Now these are the main Russian ships of the far sea zone - they are sent to the Gulf of Aden to fight Somali pirates, which Russia has been actively conducting since 2008.

As a source at the main headquarters of the Navy told Izvestia, the 30-year-old BOD will be equipped with modern A-192 Armat guns, missiles "Caliber" and the latest complex Air defense and missile defense with missiles from the S-400 "Redut".

Thanks to this alteration, BODs will actually become destroyers and will be able to destroy not only submarines, but also surface ships, aircraft, missiles, and ground targets. That is, they will become universal warships, - the interlocutor of the publication explained.

According to him, the modernization of the BOD 1155, according to preliminary calculations, will cost 2 billion rubles for each ship, while the cost of building a new destroyer of a comparable level starts from 30 billion rubles.

Retired Admiral Vladimir Zakharov explained to Izvestiya that the modernization of the BOD 1155 would allow in a short time to receive a ship that meets all the urgent requirements of the fleet.

The new destroyer of the far sea zone, which can replace the Udalykh, will appear no earlier than 2020. New ships of such a displacement as BOD 1155 are not even in the project yet. And of the modern ships, only the frigates of the project have such functions as his. But they are almost two times smaller, therefore they are less autonomous - they cannot sail far from the base - and they carry less weapons, - Zakharov explained.

Modernized large anti-submarine ships (BPK) of Project 1155 will be armed with Caliber and Onyx cruise missiles, Admiral Viktor Chirkov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, told reporters on Wednesday.

"The Navy plans to modernize all eight ships of this project, after the modernization their service life will be extended for another 10-15 years"

The Russian Navy has eight ships of this project: four in the Pacific Fleet and four in the Northern Fleet. These surface ships are among the key ships of the Navy capable of operating in the far sea (ocean) zone.

“We will modernize the first ship in two years. All these ships will be armed with new Kalibr and Oniks missile systems,” the commander-in-chief said.

Earlier, Chirkov told RIA Novosti that the Navy plans to modernize all eight ships of this project, after the modernization their service life will be extended for another 10-15 years.

Technical reference

Large anti-submarine ships of project 1155 (code - "Frigate", NATO code - Udaloy) - a type of large anti-submarine ships (according to NATO classification - destroyers). They were adopted in 1980 by the Navy of the USSR, currently in the amount of 8 units (including 1 BOD "Admiral Kharlamov" since 2006 has been in reserve) are in service with the Navy Russian Federation. Another 2 ships, "Admiral Chabanenko" and "Admiral Basisty", were laid down according to project 1155.1, of which only the first was completed.

Project development history

The project of a large anti-submarine ship of project 1155 (code "Frigate") was developed by the Northern Design Bureau under the leadership of N. P. Sobolev and V. P. Mishin. According to the initial TTZ (tactical and technical specifications) of 1972-1973, the ship was designed as a development of project 1135 patrol ships with the elimination of the latter's shortcomings (including: the absence of a helicopter and the imperfection of sonar means that were not capable of providing target designation of the PLUR for the full range of fire - 90 km ). Construction history

A total of 12 ships of this type were built.

  • "Remote" (1980)
  • "Vice Admiral Kulakov" (1982)
  • "Marshal Vasilevsky" (1983)
  • "Admiral Zakharov" (1983)
  • "Admiral Spiridonov" (1984)
  • "Admiral Tributs" (1985)
  • "Marshal Shaposhnikov" (1987)
  • "Severomorsk" (1987)
  • "Admiral Levchenko" (1988)
  • "Admiral Vinogradov" (1988)
  • "Admiral Kharlamov" (1989)
  • "Admiral Panteleev" (1991)

Design

The hull of the ship is made of steel, has an elongated forecastle (by 2/3 of the length of the hull), a large collapse of the frames in the bow and a double bottom along its entire length. In the lower part of the nose end, a radome of the antenna post and instrumentation of the GAK (hydroacoustic complex), which has a "torpedo-like" shape, is mounted. The length of the HOOK fairing is about 30 m, the diameter is more than 5.1 m. Such a design, causing bottom slamming and strong flooding of the bow, adversely affects the seaworthiness of the ships of this project, while making it difficult to use ship weapons.

Interior spaces the hulls are separated by refractory bulkheads; non-combustible materials are used in the decoration of the premises. Project 1155 ships also have a stationary foam extinguishing system.

In the middle and aft parts of the hull of the ships of the project there are 3 groups of superstructures. In their manufacture, aluminum-magnesium alloys are widely used. In the aft superstructure there are two semi-recessed helicopter hangars, aft TLUs of the Kinzhal air defense system and 2 RBU-6000 rocket launchers.

Service

At the beginning of 2010, the Russian Navy has 8 ships of this type, including:

  • Northern Fleet - "Admiral Levchenko", "Severomorsk", "Vice-Admiral Kulakov", "Admiral Kharlamov" (in reserve, the start of the planned modernization was delayed).
  • Pacific Fleet - "Admiral Vinogradov", "Marshal Shaposhnikov", "Admiral Panteleev", "Admiral Tributs".

Thanks to the successful discovery of a colleague gorjatschew (link 1 , about which I was kindly informed at once by severalreaders) we have the opportunity to learn some details about the modernization of the BOD Pacific Fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov", which has been located in Dalzavod since 11.02.2016. It's funny and sad at the same time that these details became known from the procurement plan for TsSD for 2017, which was not posted on the official website of the enterprise, where it is not (link 2 ), and in the purchases of Rosneft (!), whose interest in the Vladivostok Shipyard is caused by the fact that, from 02.2016, by order oil giant two ice-class tankers are being completed there. In other words, information about "Shaposhnikov" came to us purely by chance, by the will of fate. An attempt is made below to present how some of the products declared in the named plan can be placed on the ship, and facts are added that are not in the entry at link 1.

What do we have?

Judging by photo 6-9, as of18.07.2017 removed from the ship:

1) the second (elevated) AU AK-100;
2) both launchers KT-100M-1155 of the universal missile system URK-5 "Rastrub" ("Rastrub-B");
3) a cargo crane located between the stern pipe and the stern battery of the Kinzhal air defense system - a characteristic"decoration" inherent in projects 1155 and 1164;
4) antenna post radar general detection and targeting "Fregat-MA" (MP-750), located at the top of the mainmast;
5) antenna post SUAO "Lev" (MR-184);
6) afterburner and propulsion gas turbines (DT59 and DO63).

It would probably be naive to believe that the listed products were dismantled for repair with subsequent installation in the same places (except for gas turbine engines). Another obvious fact was the postponement of the end of the medium repair with modernization from 2018 (link 3 ) at least for 2019, since the deadline for the execution of contracts under paragraphs 673 and 723 in the procurement plan is dated May 30 and July 11, 2019.

The best option

Taking into account the fixed dismantling, the following composition of new weapons with the appropriate control systems seems to be the most optimal for the BOD pr. 1155M:

1) 2x8 UVP SAM "Redut" or 2x12 UVP SAM "Hurricane-1" ("Shtil-1") in place of the second gun AK-100;
2) 2x8 oblique Launcher of the "Caliber" complex in place of the launcher of the URK "Rastrub";
3) 2x4 launchers for the Uragan anti-ship missile system in place of the cargo crane (behind the stern pipe, in front of the stern battery of the Kinzhal air defense system).

1. There is information that the size of the launch module of the Redut air defense system for 8 missile sites (for the 9M96 missile defense system) for a corvette-class ship is LxWxH = 3250x2250x4735 mm (link 4 ), although according to other sources, the launch length of the 9M96 rocket is 4750 mm (link 5 ). At the same time, in the scheme of T. Grotnik (NTW 2015-06, p. 99 −link 6 ) in terms of width 22350 (16.0 m), the dimensions of such a module in terms of are much larger - 4330x2570 mm (with a 9M96D rocket length of 5650 mm), but there the dimensions of the UKKS are larger than those declared by the developer (LxW 4200x2350 instead of 3760x1970 mm). Be that as it may, 2x8 UVP cells of the Redut air defense system easily fit in the volume that occupied AK-100 - judging by the longitudinal section 1155 Yu. Apalkov, the DxV of the turret compartment is about 6500x9500 mm, and its width is most likely close to the length.

However, in the case of "Redoubt" is not so simple. Firstly, it has not yet passed state tests, and it is not known exactly when it will pass (although everyone hopes for the end of 2017). Secondly, for its normal functioning, it is necessary to thoroughly update the radio equipment, which is unacceptable in terms of the length of stay of "Shaposhnikov" in the plant. Therefore, a much more acceptable option is the Uragan-1 air defense system, which has not yet passed the "states", but there the matter rests on the particular issue of including additional missiles with an active RGSN (9M317MA) in the ammunition load.

"Hurricane-1" operates under the good old radar "Fregat" ("Fregat-M2"?) And SUO 3R91 ("Oreh-1"?), With the placement of which on the ship should not be any particular problems. 3P91 (radio projectors, consoles, etc.), of course, will be finalized based on the results of the tests of the Admiral Makarov. UVP SAM (3S90.1?) has a very original design (Fig. 9) - this is not a "whatnot" of the 3S14 type, extending to the entire depth of the cellar, but a flat panel less than a meter high (LxWxH 7150x1750x950 mm -link 7 ), to which TPS with missiles are suspended from below. Despite exceeding the length limit, it is easy to notice that along the edges of the launcher there are compartments with hydraulic and electrical equipment with a total length of about 1800 mm, and if the UVP is located on the superstructure deck, the remaining length (5350 mm) and height (with the required depth of the cellar 7 400 mm) will fit into the turret compartment of the AK-100 without any problems.

Thus, "Marshal Shaposhnikov" and other BOD pr. 1155, awaiting modernization, could receive, if not a full-fledged complex of zonal (collective) defense, but at least one more air defense echelon, which would allow shooting down, if not carriers, then high-precision aviation weapons (ASP) at a distance of up to 50 km from the warrant and an altitude of 25 km with the prospect of increasing them to 70 and 35 km (by analogy with the Buk-M3 air defense system) (link 8 , link 9 ). And this is not at all like the Kinzhal air defense system (12 and 6 km), which allows enemy aircraft to fly freely over the BOD pr. 1155 at an altitude of, say, 6500 m and bomb them with laser-guided KABs, and not even the latest Tor M2KM" (15 and 10 km −link 10 ).

Quote : "Despite the fact that the Uragan complex, unlike the Kinzhal, was not specifically designed to destroy cruise missiles and other types of high-precision weapons [WTO], tests [on the TFR of project 61 Provorny in 1978-1981] confirmed the high efficiency of its use on such targets. The RSL-60 jet depth bomb with an EPR was successfully hit, much less than that of typical WTO samples "(R. Angelsky, V. Korovin "SAM M-22" Hurricane ", Equipment and weapons No. 1/2014). Let me remind you that the M-22 started from a range of 25 km and a height of 15 km.

2. As far as the author of the blog knows, there are no images of inclined UKKS launchers in open seal has not yet been published. However, the idea of such launchers is in the air, and, apparently, in the form of design studies, they are in nature. Very little is known about them: the index is 3S14P (where "P", presumably, means deck), overall dimensions - LxWxH 9520x2600x4600 mm, number of rocket sites - 8 (link 11 ). The fact that the height of the installation is almost twice its width indicates the location of the TPS (TPK) in two to four tiers. Drawings "on a napkin" showed that the launcher in such a configuration fits very poorly into the architecture of Shaposhnikov and its sisterships, since the KT-100M-1155 has a LxH (W) of approximately 7000x3000 mm. For this project, launchers in the 3x2, 3x3 format would be much more suitable, or (if the number 8 is so dear to the main command of the Navy) - with three TPS in each of the two lower tiers and two in the third upper one. From the point of view of aerodynamics, for the 3M14 and 3M54 cruise missiles, at first glance, there are no obstacles for an inclined launch. As for the ballistic 91R, which is part of not only the Caliber-NK, but also the Caliber-PL, if it is impossible to provide it with the necessary angle of inclination of the trajectory at launch, it can start in a boat - in the image and likeness of the Waterfall NK" ( ).

3. Apparently, the cargo crane on the BOD pr. 1155 turned out to be an "extra detail", otherwise they would not have parted with it with a light heart. With a strong desire, the compact Uranus launchers could also be placed between the bow tube and the mainmast - the distance between them is approximately 6,5 m (on the TFR pr. 11540, it took a meter more to install two 3S24, but, I think, this little problem could be solved somehow). When placing the launcher, it is necessary to remember the hot jet stream of the 3M24 (X-35) rocket coming out of the container with the launch booster running (photo 13). If at 11540 there are no obstacles for this, then at 1155 if the 3С24 is placed with the back to the side, torpedo tubes with ammunition fall into the risk zone. Gas shields are indispensable here.

Real option

Unfortunately, about real version it's too early to speak. In order for the mosaic to develop, one more element is missing, since three seats that were previously occupied by the second AK-100, launcher KT-100M URK "Rastrub" and a cargo crane account for two weapon sets - two UVP (UVPU) 3S14 -1155 of the Caliber complex and two launchers 3S24 (1x4 KT-184) of the Uran complex. If they dismantled the Trumpet, but left the crane, everything would be miserable, but understandable (poor - because the skinny KT-184 would be placed in niches intended for massive KT-100M). If only the crane had been removed, 91R could have been excluded from the precious 3S14 ammunition load (16 missile sites in total). The dismantling of both confused all the cards.

With a high probability (95%), the UKKS UVP will be located in the place of the second AK-100 turret (most likely in the longitudinal direction), and the Urana launcher will be located between the stern pipe and the closest Kinzhal battery to it. One can only guess what they plan to install instead of the Bell. Perhaps these will be carrier-based launchers of the Onyx SCRC in the form of ennobled "whatnots" of the Nakat RTOs in the 2x6 format - the Dalzavod procurement plan for next year can clarify this issue. It is possible that in the end the appearance of the now multi-purpose ship of the oceanic zone (destroyer) pr. 1155M will approach the once-seeming fantastic (if not utopian) study of Morinformsystem-Agat (ill. 14).

Note . The "Shaposhnikov" had one birth defect, by which it was unmistakably determined among the ships of the same type - the lack of an antenna post for the radar for detecting and targeting low-flying air targets MR-350 "Tackle" at the top of the foremast (by the way, among 1155 there is another "crippled - BOD "Vice-Admiral Kulakov" without the AP of the bow battery of the "Dagger" air defense system). The ONTs radar is the most important component of the ship's air defense / missile defense system, therefore, instead of the obsolete "Tackle" on the order of the head. No. 114, it is planned to install a new station 5P-30N2 "Fregat-N2" (hopefully with the same functionality), developed by NPP "Salyut" as part of the Rybets R&D and already tested on the same "Kulakov" (link 3 , link 12 ).

The main headquarters of the Russian Navy decided to modernize the large anti-submarine ships (BOD) of project 1155 "Fregat" (according to NATO classification - Udaloy) . Today, these are the main ships of the far sea zone in Russian fleet. They are sent to the Horn of Africa to fight Somali pirates.

The modernization of the BOD will include equipping it with modern A-192 guns, Caliber missiles and the latest air defense and missile defense system with S-400 Redut missiles. Thanks to this, the ships “will actually become destroyers and will be able to destroy not only submarines but also surface ships, aircraft, missiles and ground targets. That is, they will become universal warships, ”a representative of the Main Command of the Navy explained to the Izvestia newspaper.

According to him, the modernization of the 30-year-old project 1155 BOD can cost 2 billion rubles per ship. At the same time, the cost of building a new destroyer in the far sea zone exceeds 30 billion rubles.

Retired Admiral Vladimir Zakharov explained to the Izvestia newspaper that the modernization of the BOD 1155 would allow in a short time to get a ship that meets all the urgent requirements of the fleet. Zakharov explained that the new destroyer of the far sea zone, which can replace the Frigates, will appear no earlier than 2020. New ships of such a displacement as BOD 1155 are not even in the project. And of the modern ships in service with the Russian Navy, only frigates of project 22350 have such functions. But they are half the size, less autonomous and worse armed.

In the 1970s, due to the overall onboard equipment, it was decided to divide the functions of a universal ship between two specialized ones - project 956 Sovremenny became an attack destroyer, and BOD 1155 Fregat became an anti-submarine destroyer with a powerful hydroacoustic station in the bow. Today, Project 956 Sovremenny attack destroyers are practically not in operation due to problems with boilers - there are only three ships on the move. They are also being prepared for modernization. Together with the updated BOD, they will form the basis of the oceanic grouping of the Russian Navy.

The US Navy today has more than 40 Arleigh Burke universal destroyers capable of sinking submarines, surface ships and hitting ground targets with Tomahawk cruise missiles. Technical task for the BOD modernization project of project 1155 will be developed before the end of the year. He was instructed to prepare the 1st and 2nd Central Research Institute of the Navy. After that, a competition will be announced among design bureaus for best project modernization, and then the plant is selected. The main contenders for this order are Severnaya Verf in St. Petersburg and the Yantar plant in Kaliningrad.

In addition to armament, the BOD will update the chassis, as well as change the center of gravity, due to which, at high speed, the ship begins to lift its nose and hit the bottom against the water (this phenomenon is called “bottom slemming”).

In the Northern Design Bureau, which developed the Project 1155 BOD and, most likely, will receive an order, they said that in order to introduce modern weapons systems, the ship's control system, that is, almost all electronics, will have to be changed.

During modernization, they may encounter a number of serious technical problems - whether the dimensions of the new weapons systems are suitable for a strictly BOD hull. If you have to break the hull, this can significantly increase the cost of the project. "Caliber" can take the place of "Trumpet", but "Mosquito" - no longer, say the specialists of the Design Bureau.

The first upgraded BOD will appear no earlier than 2016: the development of the main project will take about 1.5 years - every detail will have to be coordinated with the developers and manufacturers of weapons systems, equipment and other ship systems. After that, another 2 to 4 years will be finalized technical project modernization - step by step instructions for the factory.

For 11 years, from 1980 to 1991, 13 BODs of project 1155 were built (one of them according to the improved project 1155.1). The ships are named after Russian and Soviet admirals. Now eight such ships remain in service - four in the Pacific Fleet and the same number in the Northern Fleet. Since 2008, five of them have been involved in the fight against pirates in Somalia - Marshal Shaposhnikov, Admiral Panteleev, Admiral Levchenko, Admiral Vinogradov and Admiral Chabanenko. BOD "Admiral Kharlamov" has been in reserve since 2006. Perhaps it will be the lead ship for the modernization of the entire project.
