Seal of Death(orig. deathbrand) is a side quest in the expansion The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn.

  1. Defeat the pirates at Haknir's Shoals.
  2. Find the treasure using the Death Seal card.
  3. Explore Gildenhul Mound.
  4. Defeat Haknir Deathmark.

Walkthrough

If the main character has reached level 36, then reading the book "The Seal of Death" will start the quest. After reading, a marker will appear on the map, which will lead the hero to the shoal of Haknir. There, after destroying the pirates, you can take a treasure map of the Seal of Death from the body of the leader.

Note: also, the quest can start without reading the book, if you kill the pirates and take the treasure map while visiting the Haknir shoal.

Explanations for the table
  1. The helmet, unlike other elements of the armor, is always located only in this location. This is not surprising, given that this fact is written in the book "The Seal of Death".
  2. This piece of armor can be located in any of the locations, except for the shallows of Haknir (there is always only a helmet there). Just like the location of other elements of the armor, its place is determined randomly.
  • The key to the Gildenhul Mound will be in the last chest that Dovakin opens.
  • After all the parts of the armor are collected and the hero has the key, you should go to the Gildenhul barrow.

Tomb

At first it seems that the room is very small. However, if you read the adventurer's note, you can guess that somewhere there is an extension of the cave.

There is a hidden passage under one of the stocks of stalhrim. To open it, you need to get a stalhrim, for which you need an ancient Nordic pickaxe. In the opened passage you need to go straight along the corridor. The corridor will lead to a large treasury, fenced off on both sides by locked doors. As soon as the hero is in a large treasury, the grate will lower and there will be no other way but forward. Behind the iron door, which must be unlocked with the key from the last treasure chest, is the tomb of Haknir itself.

At first, everything will be quiet, but if you examine the pirate's skeleton and take his unique Bloodscythe scimitar, the ghost of Haknir will appear and attack. During the fight, he will summon the ghosts of his team, which will greatly complicate the fight. After defeating the remains of the Pirate King, you can pick up another unique saber - the Strangler. When paired with the Bloody Scythe, they provide a special magical effect.

Notes

  • Not all quest stages may appear in the quest log. Which of them will appear and which will not depend on how the quest is completed.
  • Stages are not always displayed sequentially. This usually happens if the quest has multiple possible endings, and also if some of the quest steps can be completed in any order.
  • If the stage is marked green, i.e. as the end of the quest, then this means that the quest disappears from the list of active quests in the journal, but new entries related to the quest may still appear in the quest journal.

Bugs

  • If you break open the barrow grate using the studied Wax Cast ability and fight Haknir before all the Deathseal armor is collected, then it becomes inaccessible.
  • Sometimes it is impossible to get a stalhrim to unlock the passage.
    • Solution: try to mine the ore several times, if that doesn't work, re-enter the location or load an early save.
  • Sometimes it is not possible to take the Bloody Scythe to awaken the spirit of Haknir.
    • Solution: loading an early save before entering Gildenhul Mound.
  • When entering the Gildenhul Mound, it may happen that the walls and floor will not appear, as a result the player character may fall through the textures and fall down / hover in place, then reappear at the entrance and repeat this repeatedly.
    • Solution: exit and re-enter the location or load an earlier save.

What awaits you in this story?

You will need to go to Haknir's Shoal, defeat the evil pirates and, using the death seal card, find all the hidden treasures. Also, in the process of completing the quest, you will go to explore Gildenhud's mound and fight Khankir himself.

Quest sequence

When your character reaches level 36, the Seal of Death book will give you a special task. When you read the book, a new pointer to Haknir's Shoal will appear on your map. Here on the shelf you will meet pirates. Your task is to stay alive, and lay them on the shoulder blades. Ready? Having found the killed captain, we take the treasure map of the Seal of Death.

Now we go to the locations where the treasures are hidden:

Helmet. It is located in the Khankir shallows. This helmet is guarded by pirates.

Boots. Located near Tel Mithrin. Boots protect the creatures of ashes.

Armor. Located near the Earth Stone. The well-known robbers guard the armor.

And finally, gloves. Found next to the Water Stone. Protected by mud crabs and rieklings.

Your hero is fully equipped with the armor found. Then we go to the Gindenhul barrow. You can travel through the stages of this quest.

Let's open the console.

To open the console, click on the button with the tilde sign. This button is located below the Esc button.

Opening the console, you need to enter:

setstage DLC2dunHaknirTreasureQSTmisc, DLC2dunHaknirTreasureQST stage, where instead of "stage" you need to enter the stage number.

Stage numbers are random numbers, but what number, which means, let's figure it out.

Number 29- the stage starts with pirates on the shelf of Haknir. They found treasure, and in it was one of the parts of the stalhrim outfit.
Number 30- the stage begins by looking at the treasure map with your hero. The pirates have already gone to the shelf and found the chest. Hurry up and you in search of the rest of the outfit, defeat all opponents and collect a complete set of armor.

Number 70– All armor of Haknir is collected. While the hero was searching, one of the chests contained the key to Gildenhul Hill. Maybe the uniform and the key are related?

The ghost of Haknir has appeared and he instantly attacks the hero.

Suddenly the ghost of Haknir arrived. The hero must fight the ghost and defeat him. And here is the victory. Now all the jewels and the sword belong to your hero.
