When I was a third-year student at the Faculty of Engineering, I already had the experience of part-time jobs as a sales assistant for equipment, a promoter and even a design engineer, but at that time I began to think that it was time to look for an interesting job with real development prospects. To be honest, finding a serious job while studying full-time and without any experience is really difficult. From infancy, I doted on "daddy's 286", trying to understand "what and why", later I was a little fond of programming, the web, but at the time of the job search I knew only the basics of C ++ and Pascal. Therefore, of course, I did not hope to find a job as a programmer, although I really liked this specialization.

And in the hot summer, fate brought me to one company. I came for an interview for a vacancy of a programmer in the department of commercial equipment. After an interview with the HR manager and the head of the department, I got this position with a probationary period (one month). During this month, I needed to learn all the basics that a 1C programmer of this department should know, i.e. commercial equipment and programs 1C 8 "" and "".

At the end of the month, I had to pass an exam, the results of which decided whether I would continue to work in this company. It is also worth noting that if I did NOT pass the exam this month I would not be paid in any way. The conditions are not very generous, probably, many would not even try. But I decided to take a chance. The first two days I studied in the office, but it did not last long - on the third day, we were sent to the first client with the second intern of this department.

The first client, I must say, was in itself a conflict, moreover, the two of us spent 3 hours with a task that now I could do in 5 minutes. He never paid us any money. I passed the exam at the end of the month, and so my everyday life as a programmer-implementer of the commercial equipment department began. I worked from Monday to Friday from 9 am until the end.

I could visit up to 5 clients a day, located in different parts of Moscow or even the Moscow region, while closing a tiny number of hours for each, on which my salary depended. Dangling through the terrible heat as an intern and not even having time to think about lunch, I received about a month as a sales assistant in a hardware store.

But despite the difficult working conditions, I began to get involved in 1C 8.3. At night and on weekends, I watched the courses of Chistov and Gilev, which helped me a lot, for which I thank them very much. All free time I devoted myself to self-education, although no one forced me, simply because I was really interested. Over time, I realized that I can do more.

At one point, I found out that the design department of our company also began to recruit interns with minimal knowledge in 1C. The design department was radically different in the scale and complexity of its projects. If my "projects" in commercial equipment at best, they were limited to 20-30 hours, then there projects could last for years. I took test, it was estimated in a few hours. But due to inexperience, I did it for more than two weeks.

If, before getting into the project department as an intern, I still doubted whether this work could become “the work of my life”, then after getting into it, I realized that this romance with 1C would be for a long time 🙂 Absolutely everything was different: the scope of implementation, scale, approach to implementation, interesting areas automated business. Here I learned a lot of terribly interesting words: CRM, ERP, MRP, GAAP and much more.
