For eight years I have been studying network marketing and writing papers on this topic. Over the years, I have repeatedly had to interview prominent businessmen. Historically, network marketing began with personal care products, vitamins, nutritional supplements, household items, leisure and educational products. Since the 1980s, the share of services has been increasing, especially in the field of telecommunications, which are not regulated by the state. Other services include: credit card service, Financial services, insurance, legal services provided on a prepaid basis, as well as travel services, services within the framework of self-improvement and motivation development programs. Given the ongoing decentralization public utilities– this process began in 1998 and will be completed in 2002 – network companies are preparing to work in this area as well.

A clear indication that network marketing has already matured as a business is the fact that the shares of 20 network companies are currently traded through the automatic quotation system of the National Association of Stock Dealers (USA), as well as on the New York Stock Exchange. There are still quite a few companies ready to issue their own shares. In order to issue an initial public offering of their shares, companies must have a standard accounting system, be ready for the audit of their securities and control of their activities by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Thus, in order to issue their shares, these companies must meet very high standards, which further enhances the status of network companies.

Investor reaction to activity marketing companies issuing relevant shares has been amazing. Upline magazine, which publishes information about the activities industrial companies, set its own index ("Upline" index), reflecting financial position network companies issuing their own shares. In 1996, this index showed an increase of more than 63% in the market value of the shares of network companies; the growth of the average Dow Jones index for industrial companies amounted to only 33%, and the growth of one of the most important stock indices of the value of securities "Standart Poor's" - 34%.

By promoting products or services in this way, people working in network marketing receive compensation, the amount of which is equal to the cost of advertising. large corporations. After all, their story about the product is the best advertisement.

Over the years of working together in network marketing for 20 years, we have recorded about 20 audio cassettes. The most popular of them is called: "If network marketing is really great, then why am I in a state of depression?" In it, we dared to talk about the fact that in the first years of work we felt the desire to leave this business. Unfortunately, many people heard this information too late; and while they were humorous about the challenges of their first year in network marketing, most of them lost the enthusiasm needed to succeed. As soon as people lose the enthusiasm and motivation that helps them get through difficult moments, as soon as they lose the excitement, their chance of achieving financial well-being is sharply reduced.

In this business, it is much easier to recruit a new distributor than to bring back a person who has left it. We hope that this book will help restore confidence to several thousand frustrated networkers once they read the true stories told by people who have become living legends in this business.

But I didn't know if it was worth doing it and wasting my life on it. I was tormented by doubts and, so that they would not devastate me, I had to solve this problem.

It was then that for the first time in my life I met with a really worthy opponent in the face of network marketing. This business, based on emotions, turned out to be completely deaf to my serious emotional and psychological searches. Caught between its gears, I had only to think about how to survive and move on. There was no question of leaving this business. And as I fed this monster, it grew and grew.

I was told all the time: “Do not lose heart. You should!" But I couldn't think of anything else. There were no options for me. And my business grew.

Yes, this business is tough. Yes, defeats and losses are possible in battles. But I did not want to put up with poverty and fought with it.

I am now a founding member of a charitable organization called Mercy Corps International. Last year, we distributed $73 million worth of food and medicine to various regions of the world. For myself, I found the answer to the question "why".

And the failure rate in our business is no more than in any other profession in which people receive commissions.

Unfortunately, starting a new business, we are, at least at the first stage, very vulnerable. Two things are very important: you need to be prepared for this work and know what to expect from it.
