Templates and molds for handmade soap

If you decide to take soap making seriously and make a profit from the sale, then you will need templates that indicate the composition of the products, the name, etc. Such templates can be downloaded on special portals. In addition to labels, various forms will also come in handy. Such containers are made of plastic, rubber or silicone. It is impossible to use molds made of glass, metal, because it is problematic to get the product out of solid containers, the metal corrodes.

Soap molds self made

Heat resistant plastic molds are made taking into account the fact that the soap base will be poured into them hot, and the molds, in turn, will not be deformed. Their great advantage is that there are a lot of such products - there are both small figures and large ones - for the preparation of several bars of homemade soap at the same time.

Plastic molds for soap

Silicone forms are also convenient to use. They do not need special care and besides they are soft, which makes it much easier to “release” the soap when it is ready. The service life of such a container is longer than that of plastic ones.

Silicone molds for making soap

IMPORTANT: Before pouring the base, grease the molds with oil, then the soap will be easier to come out of the molds. If this does not help, then put the container of soap in the freezer, after a while pull it out by pressing on the mold.

DIY soap flowers

If you are a creative person, like to do DIY crafts, then you can make flowers from soap on your own. Some doubt creeps in - is this possible, because the soap base is not plastic? To make the material softer, you need to apply a little trick when preparing the base.

To prepare it you will need:

  • base (soap), or baby soap - 230 grams
  • regular gelatin, which is sold in supermarkets - one large spoon
  • water or decoction of herbs - 8-9 large spoons
  • dyes, aroma oils - optional
  • regular knife, potato peeler

Mix thoroughly with a wooden stick. Then drop 4 (citrus) drops into the aroma oil mixture. Pour in two tablespoons of carrier oil (olive or rosehip oil). Stir again, spray the soap with alcohol and pour into a pre-prepared form. Sprinkle a little alcohol on top too so that there are no bubbles. The cream soap will be ready in about one hour.

DIY clay soap

  3. Then mix both heated mixtures. Their temperature should be 40-42 degrees
  4. It is advisable to pour alkaline water into oils through a strainer, suddenly not all the alkali has yet dissolved
  5. Put a pot of water on a slow gas so that the mixture does not overheat, keep the temperature at 60-62 degrees (minutes: 35-42)
  6. The mass thickens at first, and then a beautiful translucent gel is obtained. When this happens, add extra fat (olive oil) so that the soap does not further dry out the skin tissue.

Oils for handmade soap. What oils are used in handmade soap?

For cooking soap at home, base oils or the so-called base oils and aromatic oils are used. Their choice must be approached more than responsibly. After all, quality products will not be cheap. The manufacturer most often reduces prices if there are chemical components available. What oil to add - decide for yourself. The main thing to keep in mind is that you or your family members are allergic to a particular type of product. And we talked about the proportions in the paragraph - Handmade Glycerin Soap.

Oil selection table by skin type

For beginner soap makers, it is best to start making a product from baby soap, base soap. Making soap from scratch is harder. Experienced soap makers apply their technologies. They advise adding decoctions of herbs of chamomile and calendula to the product instead of water. Then the finished soap has a beneficial effect on the skin.

The effect of such a composition on human skin does not always bring a positive result. The consequence of the use of store soap may be the appearance of itching, tightness or peeling.

Handmade using natural ingredients. Such cosmetic products are safe for people prone to allergic reactions, as well as for children.

In addition, handmade soap (photo of which is below) can look very attractive and have a favorite aroma. It can be presented as an exclusive gift or decorate the bathroom with an unusual souvenir.

Handmade soap is available to everyone

Of course, you can not bother with manufacturing, but buy ready-made unique handmade soap from craftsmen who have been engaged in this production for a long time.

That's just the price of such an exclusive, not everyone can afford - the cost of a bar of soap is quite high.

Everyone can make soap with their own hands, as an original gift or for personal use.

The advantages of this production are:

  • selection of the shape of the piece;
  • favorite fragrance;
  • individual selection of components;
  • coloring to taste;
  • unique look or pattern.

In the process of soap production, the manufacturer can feel like a real fantasy creator and show his individuality.

In addition, soap making is such an interesting activity that for many it becomes not only an interesting hobby, but also a way of additional income.

What do you need for exclusive

In order to make soap at home, you need the following:

Soap base

When buying, you should carefully look: on the basis of what it is made. The best option will be natural palm or coconut oil.

Also, ordinary cosmetic or baby soap can act as a base.

But when using them, the result can be unpredictable - an unpleasant odor may appear (due to the presence of its specific aroma).

Various additives and fillers

Preference should be given not only to your tastes, but also to think over the variety of homemade soap assortment.

Opt for oils that don't have a strong, powerful scent, such as peach, jojoba, almond, coconut, olive, and avocado oils.

Note!

You can add fragrance with essential oils. Lemon, lavender, orange and many other oils are perfect.

Soap filler can be flowers of medicinal plants, lemon zest (for oily skin), ground coffee beans or oatmeal (for scrub). The presence of glycerin is required. This filler will create the effect of moisturizing and softening the skin.

Dyes

They are used to give a beautiful shade. After all, colored soap is more pleasing to the eye. You can use both food colors and natural ones.

Among the artificial ones are:

  • dry powder - more concentrated, which allows it to be economically consumed;
  • liquid dye - more convenient to use;
  • pigment - a water-insoluble powder of different colors, the use of which will give unique shades;
  • mother-of-pearl - used together with dyes, giving the soap originality and sophistication.

Natural dyes are no less interesting and beautiful.

Note!

Chamomile essential oil will help to get a blue tint, yellow - saffron, pink - beet juice, black - coffee, green - spirulina algae, and brown color will give chocolate.

improvised tools

Molds - the type and size of soap depends on them; two metal containers - creating the effect of a water bath; grater - for grinding the soap base.

Making handmade soap

This interesting lesson will not take much time, and a master class on making soap will help you visualize the entire procedure.

When making soap, it is important to remember that this process should be carried out in a respirator.

When made on the basis of ready-made cosmetic soap, it should be grated and melted. For this, a water bath is used. Don't heat it up too much, just wait until it melts.

Note!

The maximum heating temperature must not exceed 60 °C. To determine, it is better to use a thermometer designed for liquids.

You can bring the base into a liquid state using a microwave. In this case, there is a risk of overheating, so it is necessary to check the state of the base every 15-20 seconds.

After obtaining the desired consistency, it is time to add fillers to the soap base. When using various ingredients and essential oils, it is important to remember that too much is a bad helper, and carefully monitor the amount of substances added.

The next step is dye. Its quantity must also be carefully measured. It is better to add little by little, gradually tracking the resulting shade.

It remains only to pour the soap mixture into prepared molds. They must be lubricated with oil (vegetable) or petroleum jelly. This will help to remove the soap more quickly after solidification.

Soap bottle with dispenser

You can independently make not only bars, but also liquid hand soap. Its preparation differs from the main one only by the addition of a large number water. Pour it in 15 minutes after cooking, and then beat well.

It remains to pour the soap into bottles with a dispenser and enjoy your own product.

Handmade liquid soap is more convenient to use, and it can also be used as a natural shower gel.

The secret of making handmade soap is revealed. Now everyone knows how to please themselves, loved ones and friends with the naturalness and extraordinary beauty of a simple hygiene product.

DIY soap photo

More recently, handmade soap on store shelves was considered a curiosity. The high price did not stop, because all the ingredients are natural, plus the product is not factory, but unique. But what was once considered a luxury, today absolutely anyone can do it on their own. And it will be much more interesting and useful. Include children in the process. Together you can develop your own amazing, unique recipe for homemade soap, and then pass it on from generation to generation. We offer you a small guide on how to make handmade soap yourself.

Handmade soap at home for beginners: what you need

Finding ingredients for handmade soap is not difficult at all.

  • Soap base. Plain unscented baby soap or specialty store mix (may be white or clear).
  • base oil. Olive, apricot, almond - to your taste.
  • Essential oil. Here, too, the choice is huge: orange, ylang-ylang, tea tree and so on. Choose what suits your skin. If possible, consult with a beautician.

  • Dyes. You can add color to handmade soap with the help of special or food dyes. Suitable for these purposes and natural ingredients: cocoa, fruit juice, chocolate.
  • Water bath containers. For those who don't know. The water bath is very easy to make. Take one pot. Pour some water into it. Put it on the fire and put a smaller pot in it. As it heats up, the water will gently transfer heat to the bottom of the smaller bowl, allowing the ingredients inside to melt but not burn.
  • Soap molds. Confectionery, children's, special - everything that comes to hand.
  • Alcohol.
  • Spray.
  • Warm liquid. Decoction, milk, plain water to dilute the base.

How to make soap with your own hands?

It only seems that what is being offered large companies, cannot be created by yourself. We will tell you how to make DIY soap at home in just 7 steps.

  • Step 1. Cut the soap base into small pieces. You can grate baby soap.
  • Step 2 Melt the crushed soap or base in a water bath. Stir the melted mixture from time to time. Add base oil to it at the rate of 3 teaspoons per 100 g of base.
  • Step 3. As the base melts, periodically add a little milk or cream. If you get a creamy mixture, you are doing everything right. It would be nice to add some sugar. With it, the base will melt faster. Milk or cream can be replaced with a small amount of warm water or herbal tea. But here you are at risk, as these ingredients can lead to delamination of handmade soap.
  • Step 4 Remove the completely melted base from the heat. Add about 5 drops of essential oil, a spoonful of glycerin, flavorings, coffee, honey, and whatever else you have prepared for your unique creation.

  • Step 5 Carefully pour your brew into the molds. Spray the surface of the soap with alcohol from a spray bottle. This procedure will help to avoid the formation of bubbles.
  • Step 6. Put the molds in the refrigerator or in a cool place.
  • Step 7. After about a couple of days, the frozen mass can be removed from the molds and enjoy the result. If you are preparing soap as a gift, do not forget to decorate it beautifully. Wrap the surprise in parchment paper, tie with twine or a beautiful ribbon. You can attach a cinnamon stick, a dried orange circle, or a dried flower.

Typical mistakes of soap makers

  • Many find that red soap is easy to achieve with fresh rose petals, berries, or wine. In fact, these ingredients big share probabilities will give a dirty gray tint. To make red soap, it is better to use beetroot juice or pink clay. Depending on the amount of such additives, handmade soap can acquire a whole range of shades - from pale pink to bright burgundy.
  • To get green, do not use brilliant green or potassium permanganate. They bloom quickly. Food coloring works best (for example, for coloring Easter eggs), as well as henna or dry herbs.

  • A good yellow homemade soap will come from chamomile, marigold petals, or turmeric.
  • If you want to add a large amount of dry medicinal herbs, grind them and sift through a sieve. After all, a large number of large pieces of plants will severely scratch the skin.
  • Be careful when using essential oils in soap making. Overdo it with an oil base and your soap won't lather well, plus it will feel greasy and unpleasant to the touch.

Friends, hello!

I can’t help but touch on the topic of the end of the old era (better known now in the news as the “end of the world”) in my blog.

What do I think about this? I believe that the old era (or light) is ending, and what??, right, a new one is beginning.

A wonderful time of new opportunities, a new "light" begins.

And, just on the topic of new opportunities, I want to give you a recipe that really opens a new “era” in the era of soap making from scratch 🙂

I will tell you today how to make a soap base from scratch. Such a base that melts in the microwave, pours easily and takes any shape, and I will even show a video on how it melts :). The base is completely natural, or, as many people like to say now, organic.

Oh yes. She's also transparent.

Do-it-yourself soap base is more than real!

Tempting?

Every soap maker who started with a soap base cannot deny how convenient it is to use - rrraz, cut into cubes, two - melted in the microwave (or in a water bath), three - added oils, fragrances, dye and - poured into forms. Now you can only wait for freezing. The whole process can take from 5 to 15 minutes.

However, we also know that soap base contains a lot of bad stuff.

Another thing is soap from scratch, which involves working with alkali (scary). And if you are already digesting something that is already ready, then it requires some effort and time, it does not want to fit into the form normally, but it is completely natural.

Who among you has not thought about how to make a soap base with your own hands and from scratch? So easy to use? Better yet, make clear soap from scratch... so natural and beautiful...

Here, I tell you, a way out has been found 🙂

I recently found a presentation from a conference of soap makers from the USA, where chemistry professor Dr. Kevin Dunn, author of the book Scientific Soapmaking (cool!), Talked about his experiences on this topic.

And you know, I tried, and I got a wonderful almost perfectly transparent soap. I am delighted: a soap base at home is possible and possible so easily, from completely affordable ingredients! You can throw away all your (and mine) records of making glycerin soap from scratch. I definitely won’t go back to them 🙂 I know (and you will soon learn a better way too).

Yes, we will use alcohol. But not ethyl, which is so hard to get and which is forbidden for sale. And not propylene glycol, which, although allowed, scares many.

We will use glycerin 🙂 Natural soap base recipe is simple, we only need three ingredients: oils, lye, water and glycerin. You won't need anything else!

Soap base recipe from scratch:

* do not be afraid of a large amount of castor oil, the soap solidifies perfectly overnight.

** Glycerin can be added from 25% to 100%, the more, the more transparent the soap and the more better soap will melt.

But! Soap can "sweat" just like soap base. The more glycerin, the more intense.

The process of making soap base is similar to making hot soap from scratch. It took me 3.5 hours.

Weigh the oils first

And we heat them in a water bath. Or in the microwave

We weigh the water.

Remember safety precautions!

Weigh the lye sodium hydroxide.

And dissolve it in water. Be sure to take heat-resistant dishes for the preparation of an alkaline solution.

We wait until the oils and lye reach the same temperature

We mix the alkaline solution and oils. Just in case, I strain through a strainer

Stir the mixture with an immersion blender until a trace appears.

We can make a trail and thick 🙂

Now we cook this soap in a hot way in a water bath under a lid. Or, if you prefer, in the oven.

Soap should be fully cooked. Don't pinch your tongue.

Pour the measured glycerin into the already prepared soap. I had about 740 grams of glycerin for 900 grams of soap 🙂

Consistency has changed! Now close the lid and cook until completely transparent.

Bottom melts first

Then gradually all the lumps disappear

At this point, I decided to conduct a transparency test - I took a transparent mass with a spoon and poured it onto a plastic napkin

Cool, yeah?

Oh yeah! Cry, lovers of glycerin soap! Which one of you looked the same?

At this stage, the soap is poured into the mold.

If bubbles come out on the surface - alcohol them.

Soap I got dofiga. I did not calculate 🙂 1700 grams.

Another container.

But the beauty of it is that such soap can be melted as many times as you like. And on the nose New Year🙂 and 23 February. And March 8th. Do you catch????

In the morning I got such a bar.

Pieces from it are transparent, although not perfect.

But this is not an industrial soap base with all sorts of bugs, this is an absolutely natural soap from scratch. Yes! It also melts in the microwave. Or in a water bath.

I decided to show you this video. True, in the video, the colors are brighter and the base looks yellower than it actually is.

Great???

A couple more photos about transparency.

This foundation takes any form. And it's cool.

Abandoned the use of plastic molds, tk. make soap from scratch

Not worth it :)))

This soap comes out of the molds no worse than an industrial soap base.

Are there any downsides to homemade soap base?

  • Soap made from it "sweats" just like industrial soap base due to the high content of glycerin.
  • The soapiness and foaminess is not too high, in contrast to the options with sodium laureth sulfate.

But natural 🙂

Is there a way to somehow fix the "sweating" or not feel uncomfortable?

Of course! Wrap this soap in cling film immediately after preparation. Without access to air, nothing will happen to him.

When it is used, the top layer of glycerin will be washed off, and the soap will no longer sweat.

You can also reduce the amount of glycerin and use sodium laureth sulfate. Soap will sweat less and lather better.

But for me this is not an option 🙂

Be sure to make this wonderful natural soap base with your own hands!

You can make a lot of New Year's gifts out of it!
