Modeling from dough frog. Salt Dough Frog

  • 13.11.2019

Life will be boring and monotonous if there is no place in it for such fun and funny crafts as a frog, which this master class offers to do.

For this work, it is necessary to prepare (we have already told how to do it in previous master classes), stacks for modeling, water, toothpicks, acrylic paints or gouache, as well as varnish.

We begin to form the very shape of the frog, the size of which you choose for yourself. It is necessary to blind the base, resembling a cylinder, which is slightly wider at the bottom than at the top.

For the frog mouth, pinch it with your fingers, and then, as it were, cut it in a stack lengthwise into two parts.

We determine where the frog's eyes will be located and make small indentations there, for which you can use the same stack.
We go directly to the eyes themselves, for which we roll out blanks from dough that resemble drops.

We lubricate these blanks with water and fix them in pre-made recesses.

Now the limbs of the frog, which will require four thin and long sausages. Longer ones will be needed for the lower limbs, and short ones for the upper ones.

We begin to form the lower paws, for which we bend the prepared long sausage in the shape of the letter “G”, lubricate the paw with water and fasten it in place. In the lower part of the foot we form the necessary details, flatten and cut in two places. We do the second leg in the same way.

It is enough to simply glue the upper paws with water to the body, after also flattening and cutting at the ends in two places.

It will take about a day to completely dry the product, at the end of which it is better to dry the frog in the oven.

Only after that you can start painting the frog.

We draw the eyes and mouth with the appropriate colors, after which you can move on to the whole body, imitating the skin of a real frog. After the paint has completely dried, the work should be covered with a transparent varnish in several layers, with each of them completely dry.

Such a funny and cheerful frog can cheer up each of us.

Making such a craft from salt dough (shown in the photo.) Is very simple. Naturally, we need the salt dough itself.

You can also experiment with plasticine, there are sites on the Internet, for example pulmix.ru, which tell (using examples from the photo.) About making various figures of animals, plants, cartoon characters and much more from plasticine.

The only thing I would like to pay attention to is that it is advisable to use finely ground salt for the dough, when using “coarse” salt, the craft will turn out not beautiful, it will not keep its shape well.

The dough was prepared, we proceed to the manufacture of our Princess - a frog and from salt dough. We roll six balls of different diameters from the dough (as shown in photo. 2).

A photo. 2 "Blanks" for making crafts from salt dough.

From these balls we will get the head, torso and paws of our crafts.

Glue to the largest oval (this will be our body) (using water and a brush, gently wet our workpieces with a brush and glue) paws (photo. 3).

We also glue the head, eyes and crown of our salt dough crafts. Everything is shown in photos 4, 5, 6.

Good day, dear lovers of modeling from everything that only fantasy and features of the material allow! Today, a wonderful positive frog made of salty dough jumped to visit us, which you, as well as the author of this article, can easily make for yourself, together with the kids, for yourself and those around you for joy.

Many have the wrong impression that frogs and toads are necessarily boring and unpleasant. Fear not, frogs can be very cute and even flirtatious. Just give her a cheerful character when sculpting, and she will definitely amuse you every day with her presence.

Everything is as always, nothing supernatural - we glue all the details carefully with water. To give the skin of our frog, we use a toothpick or pen rod.

So, now everything is in order. We sculpt the head of the frog, as shown in the figure. Here we attach her eyes from pre-prepared cones into the deep holes. The blanks should sit deep and evenly into the holes. We make an impromptu mouth with one stitch of a toothpick.

We roll up the details for the legs with tubes - 4 approximately identical things. We stick the front legs to the body and tilt it a little, as in the photo. We pierce the eyes with a stack or rod and make toes on the legs. We do the hind legs in the same way as the front ones, only bending them in a natural sitting position.

Now let's improvise! We make different bumps and roughness in our frog, you can also make something like wart spots. As always, put in the oven for baking, if desired, lightly brown and decorate. Our souvenir dough frog is ready! Happy and not troublesome creativity to you!
